KTDrumTrigger is a plugin that triggers MIDI notes based on the sound level of the incoming audio stream in different frequency bands. It allows you to "detect" occurrences of percussive sounds in an audio stream and send out a MIDI event whenever that happens. Available as VST effect for MacOSX and Windows.

You can find KTDrumTrigger here

Yeah, well. Drumagog is more focused on drum replacement and it's a DX plugin, whereas I was more interested in the MIDI output feature really (you can send that to a drum machine or whatever you like). And you get 3 "strips" in 1 interface (which might be unnecessary for some people, but hey, why not...) :-)

By the way: there are also other similar things out there:
- jtrig
- peakfreak (by Tobybear)

Glad you like it :-)

I really, really wanna make this thing work on my system, but I seemingly cannot.

My drum sampler is Battery and my host is Nuendo. I can set up the plug exactly as in the readme with no trouble. What I don't understand is how to feed the MIDI being generated by the plug into Battery. In Nuendo, I see options to feed Battery from either of my soundcard's two MIDI inputs ("Dakota 1" and "Dakota 2") and that's it. Switching between these does not change the fact that Battery doesn't receive the MIDI message from the plug. I have the plug set to send on MIDI channel 10 and I've set up the Nuendo MIDI channel that Battery is on to receive on MIDI channel 10. No go. If I play my MIDI keyboard and set the MIDI track to receive on Dakota 1 MIDI input, I can play Battery just fine.

What am I doing wrong?

(I answered in the KTDrumTrigger setup dedicated thread)

This pluggin is cool!(much better than my version I did in reaktor)

Suggestion:

It would be great if u put a learn from audio function in it.

1)Press 'learn from audio' button.

2)Sample the 3 sounds where the 'strips'should respond to, and make filter etc settings according to sectral properties and loudnes from the 3 difrent sounds.

3)compare every sample with the settings of the other samples, so one sample doesn't trigger 2 midi notes.

See?

Post

hehehe, very cool, except "learn" is a very fuzzy concept in programming. and so is "make a filter which..."

:-)

Your idea might seem simple on paper, but coding it is something else!

I'm sorry for using an other language than the native language in this forum, but my english is just not good enough to explain my thoughts on this.
I'm switch to dutch, assuming you (Bram) and Koen understand Dutch.

(i'll answer in English anyway)
Sure, this first thing you're describing is something close to parameter optimization using genetic algorithms.

Exactly! That's the final idea, yes. KTDrumTrigger is just a first "tryout" implementation.

Well, "inspired", not really, because I already have the "learn from drum examples" in my "ideas file" for more than two years now ;-) Great to know though that the way I see it is also exactly how some people would like to *use* it!
I'll keep you updated when I get there.
