Don't suppose there's a discount for ValhallaShimmer owners, is there?

Trust me when I say that the $50 price point IS the discount.vom wrote:Don't suppose there's a discount for ValhallaShimmer owners, is there?

The amount of R&D that went into this plugin would choke a horse. I need to emerge, squinting and molelike, into the sunshine once I have the Windows version ported over. I have done competitive analysis with plugins costing many, many times what ValhallaRoom costs, and I feel it holds its own with the highest end algorithms available.
At some point in the future, when I have a larger inventory of plugin releases, I will look into bundle discounts, coupons for existing customers, etc. For now, with two products, it doesn't make fiscal sense.
That being said, I appreciate the support of you and all existing ValhallaShimmer customers!

So if I want a "normal" reverb for acoustic instruments/drums, I should pick Room over Shimmer, right? Is there anything beyond long ambient sounds that Shimmer does better and would force me to get both?

Room is more normal. Shimmer is more psychedelic. Not to say that Room can't get psychedelic, just that Shimmer is more psychedelic. There is a particular characteristic to the Shimmer attacks, and the modulation used, that Room can't duplicate. Plus, Shimmer has the pitch shifting feedback. I designed them to be complimentary to each other.oneshotdeal wrote:So if I want a "normal" reverb for acoustic instruments/drums, I should pick Room over Shimmer, right? I personally don't like metallic reverb tails that you can achieve with ValhallaShimmer and that's why I'm so excited to try ValhallaRoom, because it can probably do less modulative reverb without the metallic tail. But I bet ValhallaRoom can't do huge ambient washes like ValhallaShimmer.
I'm guessing ValhallaRoom will replace Eos, we'll see. I depend on Eos for a lot of things that ValhallaShimmer can't do whatsoever.

The ValhallaShimmer architecture has some similar characteristics to the original Lexicon Concert Hall algorithm, in that modulation makes them sound WONDERFUL, while turning down the modulation can bring out some metallic artifacts. The ValhallaRoom algorithms are totally different, and are designed to sound good without any modulation. Turning up the modulation in ValhallaRoom sounds good, as well - just different than in Shimmer.Architeuthis wrote:I personally don't like metallic reverb tails that you can achieve with ValhallaShimmer and that's why I'm so excited to try ValhallaRoom, because it can probably do less modulative reverb without the metallic tail. ValhallaRoom can get decays up to 100 seconds, so it can definitely go into ambient territory. The attack of the reverb is far different in Shimmer than in Room, and the decay can be considerably different as well. I encourage people to try both.

I think the only thing that could help me forget my offense would be an earlier release of the PC version.

Maybe some of the OSX users will hear your plea...Architeuthis wrote:AUDIO DEMO PLEEZ PLIKEEZ!valhallasound wrote:ValhallaRoom can get decays up to 100 seconds, so it can definitely go into ambient territory.
Send me a dry file that you want to hear stuff on, and I'll dampen it for you. Wow...that sounds WAY grosser than intended. It's been a long day.

If you could do some clean female vocals, that would be brilliant for me Sean
I can wait till the windows demo though if not hehehe
Vroom is my last chance for a cheap non metalic sounding POS reverb, everything i have tried so far has not been up to the task of doing really sweet female vocals

Do you have any clean female vocals I can try? I can use the old standby, Suzanne Vega "Tom's Diner." However, after hearing this a few thousand times, I can hear all the little nuances, like there is a tiny bit of reverb mixed in.NAS wrote:If you could do some clean female vocals, that would be brilliant for me Sean

Seriously, "Tom's Diner" is a total inside joke for DSP developers. Around 10 years ago, I heard a composition at Woodstockhausen (a crazy little electronic music festival held in the California woods in the backyard of an old friend of mine) from an E-mu/Creative Labs developer, that was based entirely around manipulations of "Tom's Diner." It is one of the few recorded a cappella tracks that has very few effects, and is therefore used to test reverbs, pitch shifters, pitch tracking, and so on.
It will be interesting to see if ValhallaRoom is up to the task. I worked hard on avoiding the artifacts usually associated with the Diffusion control, that tend to show up in other algorithmic reverbs.

She is away on holiday right now but when she gets back i will try and get her to do some random stuff

Sounds great - but really needs a Mix lock control/ignore Mix setting when loading new preset - like Aether/AAR.

That was one of the easiest purchase decisions in a long time! Ten minutes with the demo was all it took…;-)
I agree with re_mute, though - a Mix lock control/ignore Mix setting option would be highly desirable.

But.. but.. I can't help Canada without a PC version! Think of the Canadians, eh?!!valhallasound wrote:ValhallaRoom has just been updated to version 1.0.1. There was a bug in the Medium Room algorithm in some host/OS combos, that has been fixed in V1.0.1.

I don't care if this was offensive - take off, eh. I must have Win VRoom by Friday or the government will fall. Don't make us Winderkind topple another oppressive regime.
Geo-politics, DSP. There's everything to play for here, Sean. Think of your nearly Canadian roots. You're only a few miles, uh, klics away from getting metri-sized. Why take the chance? Click the VS button now.
