Hum... The developers of Tone2 are a bit too paranoid. Rebooting while dll was moved, opening webpage in the demo version... I think Tone2 is not a good choice for me.

They are absolutely paranoid. The demo restrictions are brutal. I've said it before, it's like they are trying to drive people away from their products. But once you have one of the synths, they are quite a pleasure to use with a nice sound.4damind wrote:Hum... The developers of Tone2 are a bit too paranoid. Look ;
They are a small company in a big world . They are hard working and talented and develop unique software that produce sounds like no other can.....
They are ASSAULTED by warez kiddies who thieve the product , then come looking for service !!!
For once try to emphasize .. put yourself into their shoes .. Think of how frustrating it must get to have such parasites attacking your very livelihood ???
Would you rather they go to challenge response so that you have the possibility of getting Kjaer-hosed???
Don't move the software , simply save your personal patches and uninstall then re-install . Ask at their forum for help on how to make the changes you want to make .
I have never had any issues with them or their software .. I bought it , installed it and use it without issue ( and have received many free improvements along the way with Gladiator !!!)
The feeding frenzies at KVR are so stupid . There are sooo many other Dev's who can't hold a candle to Tone2 .... appreciate them and quit freaking out because they do things differently . If you don't dig the demo or feel that you can't buy based on it , then don't !!! Obviously they feel they can't afford to show much more of the software in demo form because of warez clowns ... if you must hate , direct the hate at the warez idiots

Markus is a bit paranoid, granted, but he's also one of the best DSP writers out there (no diss to any DSP folks out here, for what he does, he does it amazingly well). I move my installs without issue, just keep your license keys nearby. More likely the plugin just crashed when it couldn't find its support files.
There's been a lot of FUD about Tone2 spread by what I can only assume are butthurt warez leeches or trolls. But they do have pretty solid copy protection, and thats why.
If you've been soured on their products already then thats a shame, I've been there man, I understand, but I do use Gladiator a lot, and Firebird was one of my first plugin purchases.
Anyway, enough of that.
I'm totally in love with KarmaFX Modular right now, and Audjoo Helix (I have an olllldd beta) they sound so sick and crisp man. I'd like to get Zebra and see how it stacks against them. So tempted. I get paid tomorrow... maybe I'll get Zebra and Helix.. mmmmm shiny things..
Oh yeah, Superwave is good, P8 is the classic, I recommend it (I also own all of their other synths but Ultimate and Micropops). Check out TAL Elektro, the author might release his plugs for free, but a couple years ago a KVRian set up a comparison with a real Juno 106, TAL's UNO62, and a couple of others. Everyone assumed the one that sounded exactly like the real one (minus a little line static in the left channel) was one of the other synths. But no, it was the little, free Uno. Go get TAL Noisemaker and play with that a bit.
Ooo yeah, there's also ReFX Vanguard. Classic. Lots of patchbanks out there.

Oh, I'm not interested how Tone2 runs there business. I'm only interested for the products. If the plug-in tries to open a web page this is completely a no go for a professional audio plug-in. The demo restrictions are too excessive.contrary wrote:For once try to emphasize .. put yourself into their shoes .. I'm not sure what other things they are doing in the background while I composing. So I most remove Tone2 from my potentially plug-in list.

And I'm not sure that shutting down your PC without giving you the chance to save anything because some files are missing or are not in the right folder is very professional either.
And I'm not speaking about the demo, but a fully licensed copy.
Actually I'm pretty sure that this isn't even legal.

...weird. I own Gladiator2, ElectraX, Firebird+ and Warmverb, and have never had any of this happen. What gives with your guy's systems? I especially use Gladiator quite a bit and can't say I've had any issues (Win Vista 32 - > Win7 64 no problems). As for the supposed dialing home... tested it quite a bit, never found any outgoing traffic from any of their products. In any way, if you own anything by NI, you can't really moan cause the service center is nothing but one big dialer

i don't get the witch haunting that starts everytime the word Tone2 is mentioned at KVR...
did you all experience these behaviours ON YOUR OWN - or do you just gossip or bad mouth?
1) make a copy of your gladiator folder (outside the vstfolder)
2) in the original folder delete all files except gladiator.dll
3) launch your daw (I tried this only with live and bidule)
4) Now add galdiator, you will see a few (3-4?) message boxes about missing files and re-installing, just click ok
Now I'm not sure, but switching to another app or closing the daw ??? will shut down your window sessions without any warnings.
I know that there is a function that lets you do that as I used it before.
This is on window xp sp3, not sure vista or 7 allows that.

....of course it's legal. If you mess with the file structure and it craps itself, you can hardly blame the dev and call foul on their whole operation because your system decides to go belly up due to your actions
I get what you're saying mbncp, however, your assumption, or shall I say perspective on the matter, is a bit so so it seems... pre-tainted if you know what I mean. Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure comes across that way.
Regardless, 4damind, I don't get anything out of persuading you to at least give the T2 stuff a fair go or to buy them, so I won't try, however, I will say this: You might find it useful to take the clap trap that's thrown around here as the gospel opinion with a pinch of salt. A lot of people on KVR are in love with the bandwagon (btw, not referring to you mbncp
just saying in general)...

So, if I get you right, any app that sees that some files are missing, should automatically shutdown your window session without letting you save any of your work ?GeorgeZ wrote:....of course it's legal. Just for the fun I'm very tempted to launch a legal action against tone2.

No. I would suggest that it is Explorer or the host you were using at the time that had a fit and shut down your sessions, not the plugin. You are attributing too much power to one plugin. If you move critical files around for any program (try it for something else for example), you will likely find that Windows has fits. Gladiator needs certain files to operate properly. If you move those files and it does not find them, it will not be happy. Not the fault of Tone2 if you mess around with your files now is it?mbncp wrote:So, if I get you right, any app that sees that some files are missing, should automatically shutdown your window session without letting you save any of your work ?GeorgeZ wrote:....of course it's legal. There is a lot of clap trap around here. Tone2 make very good sounding plugins. I personally find Electrax to be too buggy (which is a shame), but I use Gladiator a lot.
