Regardless of what ya awl are on about, I don't think trimph1 was quoted correctly ;)

Rebecca Black got caught lip syncing on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Tuesday. The backing track on "Friday" began before Black even had the microphone in her hands. She continued to mouth the words along with the song. Black has said she wants to release an acoustic version of her song to prove that she can sing without AutoTune.

I give her 4 years before she has bad meth habit, has 2 kids and 2 baby daddies, and tries to do a comeback video called "Saturday" :hihi:

Tay Zonday produced a massive commercial with Dr. Pepper. He made shit-tons of money. He has also appeared in a whole SLEW of commercials after that:

Does that suddenly change your opinion of him? I can only imagine it would. I don't know what you're on about with this stuff... :?

How related? publicity sells......doesn't really matter if it's good or bad but bad seems to do best. You want to be rich and famous (and have the moxy for it) seems getting into something controversial is the best way.

You are right, I'm full of envy at this:

And Rebecca Black too, of course.

Potential piles of Dr. Pepper derived wealth notwithstanding, it's hard to be envious of fifteen minutes of YouTube fame, 50% (or more) of which seems to be built around people expressing how much they can't stand her voice and how bad they think the song is.

Why assume that all the people who say they don't like this music are envious?

I don't much care for professional wrestling, C-Span, or American right-wing talk radio. Is that because I'm envious?

A lot of the "buzz" about her seems to be the "why in the world should this terrible singer get so much attention" variety. If you just plain hate her music (which I can totally understand), carry on.

He just knocks that out like he was playing chopsticks or something. :hihi:

dude, I'm trolling you  because your argument that I shouldn't be allowed to criticize this artist or song is RIDICULOUS. obvious troll was too subtle for you?

i don't know what YOU are going on about over envy. Why is that the "go to excuse" when someone else on KVR criticizes the work of someone else. Because, AS I HAVE POINTED OUT THROUGH THE ENTIRE THREAD IF YOU HAD BEEN READING, most of the comments of derision have been directed at the song, NO MATTER WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE. Unfortunately songs cannot be made into funny gifs, so we are forced to use the artist's image. Sorry if that makes us look like envious pigs, but it's internet and that's how we amuse ourselves.

So really, I can't criticize something and not be envious? that's a big f**k you dude. i'll criticize what i want and if you want to attribute it to "envy" because i don't agree she should be given the utmost slack because she's 13 or for any number of reasons, then go for it. But that doesn't mean your correct.

Because that's easier to digest for the people who don't want to believe that there is genuine dislike for this crappy song.

So it is all driven by envy?

Boy...are we barking up the wrong tree.

The reason I do not like the song..the song..not the girl here..the song..is precisely because of it's overall feel. Overly compressed, it sounds like there is barely enough headroom for her to breathe. Her voice was autotuned OUT, let alone manipulated beyond belief, it follows all too well the pop music formulae that every young singer is forced into...how about a different direction here? :x

I'm sure she has a much better voice than what that piece of tripe 'displayed'... :x

Song Writing as a craft needs be brought back to the center again...not all this other guff :x :x :?

Envy...give me a break... :help:  :?

Yes. Yes it is. I want to be just like her.

I'm getting funny looks at work dressed as a 13 year old girl and people are getting confused because I'm reciting which days follow today and I can't make up mind mind whose desk to sit at.
