2008 Gibson Les Paul Push Tone Natural Flametop
^ This is the model, Eric. It is a Standard.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWAX%3AIT
Here are the shots of the pup mounting, and all detail.
I think the pups are bolted to a plastic block, which is bolted to chrome plates that are on the underside. Perhaps these plates are stuck there magnetically? They are meant to be easily and quickly switchable for other pups.
Let me know if the link doesn't work.
Cheers, I'm going to be loving it I'm sure!

Well, technically speaking it's more based on a studio, a Standard should have neck binding.nix808 wrote:2008 Gibson Les Paul Push Tone Natural Flametop

But then, ebony is not typical for either one ...
Very unique mix of features, beautiful guitar !
What material are these neck inlays ?
Post a report when it arrives !

I'll check in here when I get it with some audio, Susi.
I think the inlays are unflamed maple.
They certainly look beautifully fitted. I am not too
keen on the pearlescent stuff they usually use,
so they suit me.
Contents in playing peeps!
Thanks for the info on the Gibson makes

That's how they look in the pics ...nix808 wrote:I think the inlays are unflamed maple.
All in all the closest other Gibsons I've seen were the Gary Moore models, really good sounding LPs !

On 2nd thought however, there are just as many differences as similarities.

I'll try and make some examples which show this one's tone off.
That's a pretty sweet looking LP too.
Here's another couple of teles which might tickle someone's fancy->
http://www.fender.com/products/index.ph ... al+Edition
They have that abalone inlays I desire, although they have humbuckers, while I would prefer the single coils.
edit:added photo->
Thanks for the compliment on the LP finish with the carved nut cover Hink
It looks better in the photo than in reality in truth though. I could experiment on that one tappermike, without risking too much.

There are many great pickup options nowadays that are direct replcements for HBs but sound like (or even are) pure single coils, including P-94, Phat Cats, P-Rails, don't overlook TV Jones' fine Gretsch style range, they all can be ordered in HB shape, too.nix808 wrote:although they have humbuckers, while I would prefer the single coils.
And that's only the tip of the iceberg ...

Thanks!
Could be an option, I was searching this a couple of days ago, but didn't find anything. I could also fit them to the new Gibson, hey.
I think wether I would like a classic tele or one of these archtops.
Maybe a custom with the spalted maple would be the ticket.
Cheers man, handy lead

Check out this, Tele with P-90s.
The ones I mentioned all fall in that camp, exception TV Jones which explore the various classic Gretsch tones, also very cool in a Tele.

a new guitar will be under your car and you plan on running it over? I could see that if it were say a .....?hibidy wrote:So what's the over/under on me coming home with a new guitar today
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Oh that Les Paul is asking for some chrome volume and tone knobs plus a chrome tip for the toggle. It looks somewhat like the BFG but alot nicer nix but i am not that well up on Gibsons. I do like the BFG model though as its just built to play instead of all that binding rubbish and scratch plate which i would just remove anyway. You have a nice collection man
What is all this talk of Washburn's Wonderbra? Never come across one nor removed one before
I was not born until 82 though remember so double locking systems were pretty much decent when i started out. Like yourself Hink, I have at least 5 different variations on and including a few original flyods, The Ibanez Edge III or the Trev Wilkinson take on them on both my Maverick F1 guitars, I have a Yamaha HSH with a floyd in pieces that i need to put back together but its been ages since i looked at that and can not recall if it is a licensed floyd or not/something else. I could use one guitar sans any form of trem as it is handy to have even if i would not reach for it myself that often plus i am really after an acoustic as i am in need of one for a person i am working with as my pointy headstock bridage just do not suit/work well. So i will be getting an acoustic of some sorts
@Kahler bar demolition - That answers that one man
hibidy - If not/you do not return with something new there will be some severe lust a plenty to rectify that
susi - has your choral flange arrived yet? That FUCHS Plush Replay is devastingly good for a delay pedal but i will stick with the good old Boss DD-5 for now as i NEED other things first my friend but woah what a sweet box it is, That was just a youtube video also and it feels/sounds stunning in the flesh. I got a proper boner for modulation when i heard this demo of a Mad Prof Tiny Orange Phaser...That is rare!!! - and i am not a fan of the beatles at all, Just sounds tuned to just perfect to my ears

Hi Dean,
how to explain wonderbra ?
Imagine something like this early prototype,

made out of very heavy metal, stuck on the front of a semi-decent guitar.
My tech would say "That's where the action is".
We'll talk about intonation and other adjustments when the kids are asleep.
Seriously though, an ad from those days :

Talk about mechanical overkill ...
The Choralflange arrived yesterday, and it's one of those rare devices that just deliver jawdropping "major label" tone - the sounds you've always been scratching your head about.

Tied with my Ibanez CCL

and vintage SCF

The Choralflange is the fattest, juiciest of the three, could also get weirdest noises, next the IBZ which is also fat and doubles as cool fake leslie (remote switchable), the TC is transparent and subtle.
I have my holy chorus grails covered now, all of them are also doing pretty flanging as byproduct, none of them pulling off that extreme flanging that the Electric Mistress or black MXR could do, so an MXR is still on the list ...
Mad Professor - among the best, really (a friend of mine has the complete lineup), and the PCB line finally is priced allright.
Have a nice weekend, everybody,
