Thanks DarkStar, nice to hear you like Kirnu.
Donations are always welcome and especially now when I'm designing the next version of Kirnu :)

BTW I'll take new feature requests if you have any...

Post

Random direction, please! Thanks for your excellent work!!!

Arto, thank you for this freeware and for making it available in 64-bit format. :)

Arto, any plans for AU?

Post

Hi Arto,

This seems like an amazing instrument!

I just downloaded and tried it out a bit in Live 7 and in DSP Q on an Intel Mac, 10.5.8. Those two hosts are the only ones I have that support VST.

Kirnu works, BUT most of the control buttons don't. Like Type, Direction, Sort order, Scale, etc - nothing happens if i click, double click or umpteen click.

The exception is the Rate control, which flips between 1 and 1/8 when I double click.

The rotary controls and the Hold button do work, and the sliders in the arp window as well.

At first I thought that this may be a demo or freeware/donationware limitation, but since everybody is so enthusiastic around here, I guess not?

Any secret how to get the controls to work on a Mac? Does Kirnu need 10.6, by any chance?

An AU version would be great, but there's something about the AU implementation at least in Logic and sending MIDI between plug-ins, isn't there?

Anyway, it would be nice to have all the Kirnu versions fully working.
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Great arpeggiator, thanks so much for sharing it!

I have a couple which would turn Kirnu into a midi device I've wanted for years ;)

FR: Sequencer mode
Now you have a great 16-step device with all the midi-relevant data available per-step... except the midi note itself. Add a new 16-step row for midi note and an arp/seq switch to go into sequencer mode: it wouldn't use incoming midi data, but follow the daw transport. Very useful for programming beats, melodic lines, anything.

FR: Per-parameter, per-step randomisation
I would love to be able to randomise each step of each parameter independently, within pre-defined limits. It could be implemented in a number of ways, but I saw it done beautifully in a plugin I betatested a few years ago that was never released: the sequencer was similar to the one in Kirnu with vertical bars, but for each step of each parameter it would allow the user to right-click and drag to create a variable "randomisation area" around the selected value for the individual step. Then each time the sequencer passed through each step, it would choose a random value for each parameter within their individual "randomisation areas", which could be as wide/narrow as desired (or 0 by default for no randomisation). This allows all sorts of uses and variations, from slightly humanising just the snares on a programmed beat, to full-on "generative" mayhem, and everything in between ;)

Of course those are just ideas, and probably not simple to implement... I'll be donating a bit on pay day anyway as the plugin is very useful as it is, but I'd happily betatest and/or pay for those two features... just a thought anyway.
The mind boggles.

Mac VST version doesn't work ok for me: you can't change mouse-click buttons to any other value that default in energyxt.

Thank you VERY much for this update!

Two FRs

1) Chord memory!!!! (e.g. 12 chord slots before the ARP section, trigger-able by a specified octave range).

2) Larger, more readable UI (less gradients, more contrast, less colors, bigger fonts) suitable for touch screens and live use (seen from a distance).

Thanks!

Oh one more, not sure if it's there already, but defineable input key-range, and pass-through the rest of the input untouched. This will allow stacking multiple instances in series.

Good (?) to hear that someone else on Mac is also having the same problem (means I'm not as stupid as I tend to think when I can't get something to work). Please see my post 3 posts higher up.

will AU be available?

There are some problems with Mac build. The only tested and working DAW is Reaper atm.

My suggestions:

- build-in patch browser, because Cubase & Studio One saves patches only in VST3 format

- bigger interface

Thanks again, especially for the 64-bit version!

Thanks for info, but will AU come or not?

Thanks a lot for this free arpeggiator, but I haven't been able to get it to make any sound in Live8.
I'm assuming it uses it's own sound source, as it shows as an instrument icon in my Live folder.
How do I get this to have audio?
I'm on a Macbook Pro 10.6.6 os in Ableton LiveLite8.2.1
