hibidy wrote:So, let me kinda tell you about the trip.

I've never played a charvel in my life. No music store, in any city, in any state has ever had them. The name of this place was "napa music center" and tbh considering it's a really small place I was surprise by the selection they had! They had quite a few USA models, some really top-shelf models ( the phil collen model.....out of my range for sure!) and a couple of used custom shops (again, out of my range, but SOOOOO nice to have the selection) and this on top of the lovely san dimas/socal/japan models (which they had several)

Here's something you don't find.....how bout every single guitar CLEAN and (OMG) In tune! :o  They were attentive, but not pushy. They allowed me to go through all the ones I wanted to play, without being bothered by it.

The one I was most interested in (the one I bought) had a bit of a bow in the neck. No problem, he took it to his desk and fixed it EVEN THOUGH this model requires removing the pup to get at and straighten the neck. :o

AND they gave me a better price than many places would have (about 850 out the door and CA tax is really high!)

It's WAY too soon to know for sure how great the guitar will be down the road, but I just thought it was pretty cool to deal with this kind of place :D
when I use to music store exploring I use to hate it when the salesman was more interested in showing me how well he could play instead of letting me play the guitar, this shop seems to have their attitude set right :tu:

heh!
I liked the 'bewilderbeast' service provided!

I am a cat fan myself actually. I can relate to them as they sleep 18 hrs a day and I am such a lazybones!

The dubstep mix is terrible quality, like bad file compression.
Hmm, I have taken a shine to dubstep recently, I'm using all my bandwidth listening to radio. I intend to mix up some guitar in there for sure.

I certainly prefer that mix to the pop song.

I think I have one of those little mouse orbital sanders to strip the blue guitar. I guess a belt sander would maybe be a (quicker)option too, although not if it turns out to be veneer.
I have stripped finishes before, it would be a helluva job to hand sand.

I'll show you guys the shape I wish to use for a home-made electric at some stage. I have a mean router to cut it out with, and my Dad has already cut me a slab of timber(Huon Pine).

=)

Would you suggest the blue body is not a genuine Fender, as the tremelo cavity is for a Floyd Rose, folk?
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

For cruch to extra high gain they are outstanding. I'm impressed with the clarity most of all. For clean, the jury is out.

No, they have been lovingly remastered by hand, frame by frame, by huge hermit collectives in the Scottish mountains. :tu:
There is a nice DVD box with all the Flying Circus material, highly recommended !

Actually this is a music software forum with an emphasis on plug-ins.

There's so much guitar stuff probably because people want something else.

Probably because most people wear different hats.
I'm a guitarist and studio person primarily, but I first came here for VST FX and the occasional vintage synth emulation. Turns out there are some more good folks here with an interest in guitars, so why not discuss these topics too ?
Up to now these threads typically have turned out rather informative and civilized.
Not even mentioning all the fun and bad taste ... :D
Personally I'd welcome a subforum for guitar- and bass related topics to keep things a bit easier to find, discuss !

it was just a joke, as you may have noticed i used the word "comrades" too, meaning i was as much a part of it as anyone else :D

still, a 100 pages on a thread is impressive, specially one with little off topic nonsence and no arguments :o

As a lifelong keyboard player, I can tell you that I find the draw of the guitar to be irresistible. They are, to me at least, very sexy beasts.

Not really, haven't you been on forums with topics like "now playing" where you post whatever you are listening to, or the "off-topic", "wild joker" or whatever topic where you just post pure nonsense?
