Built my first pedal (Ibanez Tubescreamer replica kit with mods)

I'm going to request a diy forum in site stuff, I think it would good for all things diy including hardware and software. There are basics and complicated things that could be useful. For instance setting up a guitar or cleaning contacts on keyboards to complicted builds and diagnostics...if anyone supports the idea please chime in to the thread in site stuff

i'm for it, but don't know how much input i could provide...

i did build this , very usefull for listening to interweb radio around the house/yard (almost one block coverage!)...they have lots of other kits as well...tbh it probably wasn't the best idea for a first build, but i got it going with a little help from Ramsey...

down the line i'd like to add a good antenna (there's an old tv one i can mount it to at the new place) and possibly an RF amp, i could broadcast pretty far

Man, for a while I dreamed of getting a UE405 and moding it to be fully patchable. They are tough to find though! Also trying to find and SCI ProFX...


You can fit it with delay, eq, compressor and reverb modules. Each with patch recall.

And very rare, never seen one.
I guess part of why I didn't own the UEs (well, I did have a 400 for some months) was the choice of modules - I'd have liked the Comp/Lim, TS9 (only available in the 300), analog delay and stereo chorus combined.
And guess what ? It took me until last week to really get something comparable together - analog stomps with MIDI controlled looping, into a small rack system.
Granted, better sounding and more powerful, but also a lot bigger and some 25 years later.

Used to have the UE300, compressor, chorus and TS9 in a floor unit, though nowadays I enjoy the flexibility of velcro-based pedalboards.

I did the boutique mods down the page a bit, similar to the Keeley mod but also adds an extra diode (the first mod listed is part of the boutique mod), gives you a choice of LED clippers or diode clippers and also provides a lift for the clippers allowing you to bypass them and get more boost than distortion.

Of course I had to build the board and no written instructions but the wiring diagram, the schematic and a photo the provided (all on their page) was all I needed besides the right tools. Total build time was about 4 hours but that was being very meticulous with several breaks.

A few mistakes but only cosmetic, I would have put the circuit in upside down but the mod kit cam with to other ic's that I can swap out just by unplugging the current one and plugging the other in. SO I can also get similar to a Boss OD1. I may or may not one day paint it and I haven't labeled it because I know what is what

Now I will start the stratoblaster and a thread for that and all other diy stuff in hardware hoping may people will contribute so maybe we can have a resource for those wanting to try their hand at diy and those wanting to get better at it

I actually have designed my own pedal because I wanted something that wasn't available. Its still on the breadboard , but I've drawn the circuit board and designed the art for screenprinting the enclosures. I'm going to spend a few months playing it before I commit it to a pcb.

I really enjoyed it.

so I swapped out op amp in this today, it had a JRC J356A IC 8-PIN SIP DUAL OP AMP BIPOLAR *SS and I swapped it with a RC4558IP - DUAL GENERAL-PURPOSE OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER - Texas Instruments
