No, Kirnu has no built-in sound source. In Live, you add a second instrument track with your desired VI and set its MIDI input to Kirnu (on the first instrument track). I had to fiddle a bit but it's working fine, in principle, but…

…as Arto posted this morning, the Mac version has a GUI problem with other hosts than Reaper, apparently. Most of the clickable controls aren't, er… clickable, so it's impossible to change those settings, except Rate that I can switch between 1 and 1/8. I hope he's planning to releae a fixed version soon. Then I'll happily donate.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it that way then.
I did click on clickable things in there, and they actually work on my setup.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.7 and in Cubase 6.01 the Menus appear but at the bottom of the screen which is something.

Same result here. Very nice arp though. Quite useable even with this issue.

I can't get it to work at all in Cubase 5.5.2 , dunno what im doing wrong.

Open Kirnu and set midi track for all midi inputs, and output to Kirnu's midi in.

Then open vst instruments and add the synth I want, set that instruments midi track to input from Kirnu and output to the synth.

Thats right aint it ?

I don't use Cubase, but "output to Kirnu's midi in" sounds strange. Perhaps a typo? You want the MIDI OUT of Kirnu assigned to its track output, so that it's accessible to MIDI IN of the insturment track.

As I understand it, etc.

Kirnu is recognized as an instrument, so I load it into the vst rack as an instrument.

I then setup a MIDI track that accepts all midi in's, and sends that to Kirnu.

Then I load in another instrument, for arguments sake Alchemy, and I setup a midi track for that with it's input from Kirnu.

So two instruments one being Kirnu, the other the vst you want arpeggiated.

Two midi tracks, one to accept the midi data from anywhere (That would be the midi data on the track itself), which outputs to Kirnu's MIDI in.

Then there is another MIDI Track that takes Kirnu's output and sends it to the instruments input.

MIDI IN -> Kirnu -> VST Instrument

I can get it to appegiate once, it will work just once, then stop.

Just want to say thanks for this arp.
It works perfectly on my mac, and I just wanna give support to those producing plugins for the mac platform.
The pop up window thing isn't that annoying really, and it works good, with a lot of nice options within.
I'll be sure to donate something asap.
Thanks Arde2

That's good news. So perhaps the GUI problem that I and another poster are seeing is a Leopard thing?

I just get the pop up menus showing toward the bottom of the screen, but I'm still easily able to choose those options, without them closing until I make a choice.

As I mentioned, in Live 7 on OS 10.5.8, none of the pop-ups work except (after a fashinon) Rate, which doesn't act as a pop-up, though. I can change Rate from 1 to 1/8 by double clicking and I can change back to 1 by single clicking, but that's it.

All the pop-ups are somehow alive since when I click on them, their respective (unchangeable) setting is mirrored in the status display on the top of the GUI.

I really hope that Arto can find a fix for this. I guess that quite a few people are still on Leopard.

Spitfire31: For me Kirnu is working fine after I fixed the bug where menu was showing bottom left in the screen.
So I didn't manage reproduce your problem in Live.
In Reaper 64 bridged mode the behavior is similar what you have described so there is hope my fix will work for you also :)

I have AU plugin ready, but I haven't got it to send midi out to the host. I have tried with Reaper and Live. If someone has any solutions how to get au plugins to do midi out please tell me.

I'll release the new mac version soon...

Yo! I am on a mac and it works fine!

Is there anyway to save patterns so you can swap from one to another while the song progresses?

Great! But what OS version, please? And what host version?

It seems that the problems reported are related to the OS version, you see…
