winamp 5 is winamp 2.x ! (with winamp3 skin/scripting support)

have you actually tried 5? all the screens are just like 2 and all my winamp 2 plugins work in 5. Its actually quite nice.

Winamp sucks for playin' porn. Can't remember if it plays midis...(WMP is great for auditioning dled midis to see if they're worth keeping).

Why have several playback thingies when one will do?

Plus, the most recent WMP has some great features, like realtime time streching, great for slowing stuff down to learn the guitar bits wivvout changin' pitch.

...but in this day and age...Dell just sent me a catolog where for $799, (£87.36), you can get a 2.4 gig p4 system with lots of ram and an included 17" flat panel monitor!

i know what you mean - i just advised my gf dad on a laptop that cost £500 less than mine (which is 2 years old) but is 3 times as fast - has twice as much ram - usb2 - etc

and i bought mine on a 3 year plan - so no affordable upgrade until december !!!

Yeah I´ve tried them (3&5). Gave them both roughly a month each. Couldn´t stand them tbh

hehe okay.. but for the record.. the settings are layed out in the exact same manner in 5 as they are in 2 since it IS version 2.

think of 5 as 2.91 with bug fixes and 3 skin support.. however all my old 2.x skins, effects, and plugins (obviously) work fine in 5.

but ohh welllll... I have a feeling one day you'll try 5 again and say "doh why didnt I use this sooner"

also.. winamp plays midi files *.mid *.midi *.kar *.rmi as well as compressed midi *.miz

you can even doubleclick on the file name and pull out track and file info..
