Chord progression in this rock song?

I honestly don't know much about scales and all that or even theory in general. But it seems like the chorus goes E > C# > G# > A

then for the verse, it mostly hangs around G#, then goes to B, then finally up to C#, then back down to E for the chorus again

Can someone explain maybe what key/chord progression/scale is being used here? Thanks.
