Sorry, I should have been a bit more explicit on the sysex thing:zimmerabc wrote:Sorry, how do I import sysex? In FM7 there was a button....
Right now, there is no button to directly import a sysex file. You need to send the sysex via MIDI. Most hosts allow you to load and send a sysex (*.syx) file.

I have some serious issues with this plugin. It crashes with an error message "violation...". I tried to fix it with jBridge (Yes, it usually works with problematic plugins!). Then I could load it without error message, but the GUI was blank. While switching from program to program some GUI elements were shown. Is there aan update planned to fix this? The last version which runs smoothly here is v. 0.62. Very good sounding synth though!

could you, please, send me detailled information on your setup, in particular which operating system (32bit or 64bit) and which host you are using?
Does the error message give more details in which function the violation occurs? If you could send me (pm) the full error message, I might have more chances to figure out what's going on.
Were the problems in the previous versions (after 0.62) all the same?
Cheers,
Martin

I have just tested the new version in REAPER 3.75 x86 on Windows 7 x64, and it still freezes when loaded as "Native only" (which is the default). It still works fine when loaded either as "Seperate process" or as "Dedicated process".

Thanks. Which host are you using? Is the host also 64bit, or is it a 32bit host?thorau wrote:My setup is PC, Windows 7 x64, Gigabyte 790-XTA UD4 board, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.

Thanks, are you running the 32bit or 64bit versions? Does the plugin also crash in Enrgy?thorau wrote:I'm using Cubase 5 and for some purposes an old version of Energy.

Hi Martin,
Just to say most of the crashing/blank UI issues are almost certainly related to permissions on Windows. Depending on the path people have installed to it's unlikely the host will have permission to write to the dir in order to allow the creation of the directory and SEM files. That's certainly the case with Cubase.
People don't normally notice this because an installer grants admin rights and Windows (7 or Vista) will store future writes in the User account folder "AppData\Local\VirtualStore". So people think they're still writing to a dir like "Program Files" but they actually aren't under Vista and Windows 7 if they've left UAC enabled and the program doesn't have admin permissions.
I would recommend your first suggestion to people experiencing problems would be to tell them to go to the place they put the pg8x dll, delete any pg8x folder there, then restart the host with admin permissions. That should then allow the correct SEM files to be placed where the dll expects them to be.

Hi martin,
I loved this plugins since its first Alpha/Beta...(wonderfull work)
Unfortunately latest final version doesn't work on my systems. When starting Reaper (it checks for new plugins) it gives following error message...
---------
< Caption of the dialog window = c:\prg\Reaper v 2.58\reaper.exe >
Executable 'c:\prg\Reaper v2.58\reaper.exe' had the folowing unrecoverable error:
Missing Ordinal C:\prg\VstPlugins\pg8x.dll->KERNEL32.dll:1
< OK button >
----------
SW:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 1 (32-Bit)
Reaper 2.58, 2.02 and also other higher versions (32-Bit)
SAVIHost v1.32
HW:
Intel Pentium4 3GHz, 1GB RAM
Previous versions were working fine:
pg8x-0.99.dll
pg8x-63.dll
pg8x-55b.dll
pg8x-49.dll
all of them start OK.
!!! BUT the latest (final) version of your VSTi plugin DOES WORK in Windows XP - Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3 (32-Bit) !!!
I have a couple of machines which unfortunately must have keep Service Pack 1 system because of incompatibility of some other components, and now I cannot use this plugin on them (and I waited until final version to let start making presets that will be compatible).
Now, first I was pleased that final version with Sysex support is out, but then I found that I am out of luck with my machines with this latest build
Is it possible to compile it the way so it works again also on earlier "pre-ServicePack2" versions of WinXP, please?
Thanx
akademie
P.S.: Also, could you supply for download some SYX files that are known to work with the plugin? I tried some downloaded from internet and none of them changed the sound. That way I could test where is the problem - in SYX files or in "path" the data are translated through MIDI ports to plugin...
Thanks

Martin, since it's supposed to be the final vesrion, will we get to experience Schiffbauer's banks? Did you both agree that they would be included in the package or was it not the case?
