They're starting to play around far too much with creative text size. If I don't get Windows VRoom out soon, I fear that ASCII art may not be far behind.
Your worst nightmare is becoming a reality...

The natives are restless!

I was going to post a screenshot of VRoom running in Windows, but it basically looks like the OSX version, except with ugly menu bars in the DAW. :hihi:

As of right now, I have 32 and 64 bit VSTs of ValhallaRoom running in Windows 7. The 32-bit version doesn't work with my SSE optimizations, for some reason, while it looks like the 64 bit version does. I need to track down the cause of this - it is very mysterious. The presets are working as well.

Things left to do:

- Track down SSE bugs
- Build Windows RTAS
- Learn Windows installer programs - probably NSIS
- Build installer
- Get in hands of beta testers
- Deal with bugs beta testers find
- Release VRoom for Windows

It will probably take a day or two for tracking down the SSE bugs and the RTAS build, and maybe another day for the installer. So hang tight, follow the news announcements from Musikmesse, and when that all clears, VRoom should be close to release for Windows. Assuming that crazy life events don't intervene (which pretty much sums up all of last week).

- Synthesize a cure for aids

I knew it... there will be no VRoom under the Christmas tree this year.

Hey Sean, InnoSetup has a shorter learning curve: http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php

You (or I) could knock out an installer in an hour with it. NSIS is overkill for a VST. Sure, Valhallians pride themselves on gigantic spaces, endless task lists and doing everything twice - the hard way, but Inno is a simple, clean Winders installer program. And it's free.

Since you're creating a cross platform VST (or the delectable promise of one) the one to watch is InstallJammer. OSX support is coming soon, so when you're ready to release ValhallaTollBooth you could save yourself a step.

Actually, I like to do things as simply as possible. I will totally check out InnoSetup. Thanks for the tip.

Over here we're still partying like it's April the 8th!

It's a very dry party, tho. No cheer. No efx. No Lexi-threatening tales. Just the sight of week old failed ASCII art and the sad, furtive glances out our Windows towards the halls of Valhalla.

Maybe if you actually checked your PMs, things would get a bit more cheerful...

OMG! I got mail from the lofty realm of Asgard!!!

Part of the solution or part of the riff-raff proposition. Do I have the right stuff? For either. Stay tuned...

What's Asgard?

Oh, yeah, right...

Seriously, my Nordic mythology doesn't go much beyond "What's Opera, Doc?" and "Immigrant Song." Although I have tried reading some Icelandic Eddas, and have read some kid stories of Norse gods and mythology to my kids.

Back when I came up with Valhalla Sound (before it became Valhalla DSP), my wife and I were living in Ballard. Which was a Scandinavian neighborhood in Seattle. Now it is more of a "condo" neighborhood, although there are still some Scandinavian specialty shops there.

I know. My wife bought me a hoodie in order to celebrate the release of ValhallaRoom for OSX. It is a nice sweatshirt, but yeah, it's expensive. The cut I actually get from the shirts isn't very much - the total money from shirts and stuff has reached the very low 3 figures.

Seriously, if anyone has some good shirt/sweatshirt printing recommendations, feel free to speak up. I love the Valhalla DSP logo, but a lower cost shirt solution would be nice.
