if you were looking at the first post - it was outdated
i updated it, check the last few lines

right now, Venom is one leg into the new plan (of becoming more like a 303) and the other leg into the old beta2 state (where it was completely different)
in other words, it's not going to be released as it is right now, sorry
but don't worry, meanwhile i'm doing other things which will definately help in the developement of this synth, whenever that happens (i hope soon)

the UI as i said is a complete mess (it has remaining "ruins" of beta1/2/3 ...)
but the new buttons and stuff will be slightly bigger, they won't be stacked together so close too, and with bigger hit-area
also, the main sequencer buttons are triggered by midi notes, so you don't even need to use the mouse to operate with the sequencer!

the slide in beta1 was a fake ;] i'm not sure about beta2 (i forgot)
this time it is propper

which prefab btw?

i'm here, very busy at my day job (it sucks)
otherwise, i'm working on an Oscilloscope SE module with some specific features, which will then help me calibrate Venom with my x0xb0x
i'll be using the scope to record signals out of the x0xb0x..

otherwise i'm still waiting for the x0x cpu mod..

really reckon you could have an interim version for non-x0x owners(sic),
with some kind of MIDI interchange for other plugins, eg: able to
copy the MIDI to other instruments?
and it was sounding very good on last demos, if it is anywhere near
comlpete other than the x0x compatibility.
sorry to keep going on abt this, lol. i was messing around with beta2
the other day, thinking it would be good to have more conventional
note etc access. it's all locked up inside the sequencer, when these
sequences could do good damage copied other tracks.

i'm not sure if Venom/n0nx0x will send midi Notes out
i can make it so, but it's not in my plan at that point

i do have something interesting tho
n0nx0x: a "MIDI-Trigger" mode, where you can send midi Notes to trigger patterns (just like in Venom Beta) but with external clock sync

you know the pattern format between Venom and n0nx0x would be the same, so patterns can be exported from the x0x and loaded into Venom (or vise-versa)
and also, Venom will be able to export to two other formats: 1) a more readable "303" plain-text format. 2) ABL/FreeBee format
i might also support the older .nsp format (from beta/beta2)

my main goal with both sequencers (n0nx0x and especially Venom) is to bring new life to the original 303 style pattern programming interface (this means the Pattern Edit and Pattern Play mode)
..while i'll also make some small improvements to that, and add a ton of new things like sophisticated pattern manipulation functions (for when you need a little inspiration)

i'd like to make the sequencer code the same for both n0nx0x and Venom, so that i can have the same interface on both
this would save lots of time
unfortunately, there are some technical difficulties which makes this hard to do on the x0xb0x:
1) x0x has slightly different button placement
2) 303/Venom have 24 sequencer buttons, while x0x has 23, however the tempo knob is actually a button too but it's kinda nasty to use it like that
3) with the x0xb0x, i also have to keep in mind the sync modes (internal/midi/dinsync) which makes things a little tricky
4) need the damn CPU mod to actually start doing anything, since now i'm totally stuck here

Venom kinda suffers from #4 above, since i'm not doing much
i'm more and more thinking about leaving the n0nx0x idea for now and concentrating on Venom entirely, which would result in some progress, but one day when i get to work on n0nx0x - it'd be difficult because there will probably be parts of code (small or big ones) which won't work on n0nx0x and would need a bag of brains to solve (i don't wanna think about this case)
4 months passed now, and still no CPU mod
damn.. i don't know what to do
