In German and starts around 1.00 but also covers the lovely looking Zarenbourg.

hm... you can't have multiple inputs under VST2? What's that about?
I better stop using sidechain-inputs from now on since I now know it ain't possible.
Wolfram Franke is a rather smart guy, so I'm really wondering what I'm missing here.

Yesterday at the Musikmesse i had a chance to do a first test with Lector. Betatest will start very soon so speculations about the final features are maybe too early.

He was talking about "VST2 vs VST3" versions.jens wrote:hm... you can't have multiple inputs under VST2? What's that about?

Those that still use VST2 hosts, get a plugin called "carrier" that connects to LECTOR (the signal trigger). Those that use a VST3 capable host (Cubase for example) can use LECTOR right out of the box, since it has a native sidechain mode.
I think the old "quad channel" trick also still applies? We'll have to see as soon as this thing is released.
Though interesting to see, that Waldorf didn't go into hybernation mode again. Now if they'd only revive "A1" (Steinberg collab) and "Komplexer" (Terratec Collab) again.

Well, regarding Komplexer, there's Largo...Compyfox wrote:Though interesting to see, that Waldorf didn't go into hybernation mode again. Now if they'd only revive "A1" (Steinberg collab) and "Komplexer" (Terratec Collab) again.

Yeah sure in terms of the "Q" emulaton aspect (though I'm not sure if it can load Q SYSEX atm), but Komplexer sure had an own sound - and I definitely liked the GUI. And even though some might say "A1" was just cheap in sound - don't think so... sure it's just a basic 2OSC synth, but so is Synth1 and look how famous that one is.
Then again, just my 2c.
Still it's good to see their creations still being alive. Maybe we get an "Attack" upgrade (Attack Enhanced) some day? Or a skinable version?
Who knows.

I just had a look at D-Coder here:CinningBao wrote:.. and the very D-Coder-ish Lector vocoder.. mine only works with the Powercore! hmm, native D-coder..

Yes, Lector seems to be based on D-Coder (i totally forgot that this existed...) but it has additional features in most of the parts, especially the built-in synth for the Carrier signal and the available FXs. A nice feature is that you could use the included samples or use your own samples.
I have tested to use Lector together with PPG Wave 3.V as the input ("Speech") and different samples as the "Carrier". This results in some really interesting sounds.

I searched a little bit about the origin of the name "Lector" as most of the current Waldorf products are based on names of James Bond movies.
Lector was the name of a decoding machine in one of those movie so now we have the realation of "Lector" and "D-Coder".
