Fantastic! I am so getting this..eDrummist wrote:I had to share this tune that KVR member de-signs posted in the Orange Tree Samples forum (he's a new KVR member, so his links aren't showing up yet). He made this within hours of purchasing/downloading Evolution Acoustic Guitar - Steel Strings and didn't even use a single keyswitch. It does a good job of showing how realistic this library is:

BTW what did you use for drums?
This isn't what you think.

That's not eDrummist's tune - gotta ask the original author that question.
eDrummist is just raising a point about EAG here, with this user's example he recorded a couple of hours after purchase, without any customizing.

Well, I've just succumbed to it aswell. That 12-bar bluesy acoustic tune just blew me away, and I just can't get anywhere near that using the Kontakt library guitars.
Dammit..... now...have...to...keep..away...from...the....electric.....guitar.....aswell...........

Ok, I need to update my thoughts. Admittedly, my previous tests were done very soon after our son's birth, and I was more tired than I usually like to be. And my monitoring was headphones at the time.
But after getting back to the studio to test more, I must say that the problems I presented aren't as bad as they may have sounded. They ARE still issues that would be awesome to see addressed, but they don't get in the way much.
You have to remember when playing this instrument that it's actually designed to play realistically. Meaning you can't just do random arpeggiations like you would with a piano, and expect it to always sound right. You'll likely get some legato notes thrown in where you wouldn't expect.
But once you play it for a short bit, you see just how it handles and it sounds excellent. The details are what matter most here. The noises, squeaks, etc. It's what sets the electric guitar library apart as well. So it looks like Greg has put a LOT of work into getting the extra noises just right.
The actual tone is very modern and very "singer/songwriter" to me, in other words, quite intimate. Not overpowering, but strong "feeling" if that makes any sense.
I would like to see the ability to use the playing of a chord as the downstroke, but other than that and maybe a simple sequencer, it's perfect. The solo library is easy to play once you get used to knowing that it's playing EACH STRING instead of just one big instrument(like some libraries do) of unrealistic playing(where you can play four notes that happen on the same string and hear them all).

Okay, Brent really didn't write the stuff in orange. I have two kids and was recall how sleep deprived my wife and I were during those first few months.koolkeys wrote:Ok, I need to update my thoughts. And my monitoring was headphones at the time...I was initially conducting my review of the library with an average of six hours of sleep for every two days and was becoming extremely frustrated how Greg could have let a library go out the door that appeared to have some serious issues with the sound of what appeared to be a really distracting, high pitched noise on virtually every other note with a frequency range not dissimilar to that of a small infant crying in the background! Really sloppy work that did not seem consistent with the superb quality of this developer's other libraries. It was only when I finished my testing and took my headphones off that I realized that perhaps that sound was coming from somewhere other than the library...
