Yes, they are now in the user docs folder (c:\Users\[username]\Documents\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube 3\Presets). Simply move your presets to this folder and they should appear on the presets menu.hibidy wrote:BACK UP YOUR PRESETS!!!!!!!!11!!!11
I've seen quite a few people who lost them.
On that note, x64 (windoze).......if you simply installed the update is it possible that the presets are only in the x86 PF and need to be moved?

This is an unfortunate turn because it instantly struck me as a marketing innovation for them, rather than a technological innovation such as the created the original Amplitube. It looks as if they realized that you can only sell a comprehensive amp/device modeler once to each customer. However, this new method of selling lets them encourage continued repeat buys and, ultimately, much greater revenue from each buyer.Hink wrote:...has IK not seen all the posts over the internet people make saying "I dont care about models, I care about sound"?...Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote: a bunch of hype that boils down to buying more names and some minor improvements
Good luck to IK, but this is not for me
I think it's brilliant marketing and good on them for figuring out how to make lots of money. However, I can't base my purchasing decisions on my respect for a company's marketing people--I buy based on cost vs. functionality. If IK phases out entirely the comprehensive package for a core + add-ons structure in the future, I'll look for better alternatives--especially those in which the developers are proudest of their technical advances.

Great! All my presets are gone because I didn't read the thread prior to install (since when is that mandatory)!hibidy wrote:BACK UP YOUR PRESETS!!!!!!!!11!!!11

This has been the WORST upgrade experience ever.
First, it looks like I lost all my presets (brilliant job on that IK!!!) and on top of it, I lost an authorization for no good reason.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLY BAD!!!
EDIT - After a run and some careful poking around, I found my presets. They were not deleted, they were just in the Program Files folder, which is not where the new presets go. For some reason, I always thought they were in the user\documents folder, but I was wrong. This was entirely user error on my part, and I apologize to IK for the complaining and any issues I may have caused. I'll edit all the posts I made on this subject with this message.

Yes of course.
@3.5: I do not get it. Of course I'm the guy who doesn't own a "smart" phone so who am I
In fact, the x86 version works so I I'm not going through hell JUST to get x64.
I'll go look on reaper and see what is going on........

3.5 fixes past UAC compliance issues, by moving the preset location out of the protected Program Files folder and into My Documents. You will finally be able to save presets with UAC turned on.firepile wrote:Yes, they are now in the user docs folder (c:\Users\[username]\Documents\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube 3\Presets). Brian what about my deleted presets?
And why would you ever delete user files as part of an update? Who tested this, and QA approved this for launch? Who thought it would be better to release with this HUGE bug, than wait to get this corrected? This is an unbelievably shoddy release.
I seriously expect an official statement from IK on this or a fix to restore my old presets. This is completely egregious behavior. You've literally destroyed work I've created.

Did you select to uninstall your presets during uninstall, or overwrite existing presets during installation?

The only question I recall being asked was do I want to backup my old factory presets. I selected yes. Those presets and those presets alone were backed up. All my own presets are completely gone.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:Did you select to uninstall your presets during uninstall, or overwrite existing presets during installation?
We're talking presets going back to AT2 and all the permutations since, for each of my several different guitars and basses. I'm probably not exagerating when I say we're literally talking hundreds of presets (or at least well over a hundred).

I don't blame you, I just wish I had seen the warning earlier, and I appreciate you putting it out there. I solely blame IK for this. If it's happened to a lot of people, this is clearly a major issue that should have delayed release. This is not a small deal for me by any means. I'm incensed right now. This is literally lost work and god knows how many hours gone. How does IK fix that without finding a way to restore my presets?hibidy wrote:@FET: I'm sorryI was just trying to make the point for future reference. I wish I knew of a way to get your presets back.
I could try a system restore and hope that the original preset folder got backed up, but that creates a completely different set of issues and may not even work!
I'm going for a run right now. I'm seriously angry.

You're right. I found the presets folder in the Program Files x86 folder and copied the folder into the Libraries/Documents/My Documents/IK Multimedia/Amplitube3 folder. Then click on the Browser button in Amplitube 3 and refresh if needed. That may not be the exact process since I'm retracing my steps. Might have been nice if it had just been done automatically but no problem; they're there at least.hibidy wrote:BACK UP YOUR PRESETS!!!!!!!!11!!!11

I wish there was something I could do. Is it possible at all that they are somewhere on your computer? Anywhere?
