are you saying now that it is 64 bit AND i can use the new 3.5 plugin to host all my previous amp stuff colecting dust? how would this work? Do i need to install the version 2 stuff i just authorize the new plugin with appropriate serials?

if i do need to install version 2, do they have to be in my audiounits folder or can i put them in my disabled folder?
3.5 is a AT3 upgrade, it won't load your AT2 stuff. You have to have upgraded. You can run AT2 and other previous stuff along side the free 3.5 version, but it won't have your pre 3 modules loaded.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

To our friendly IK man here..- i have svx uno on my computer and it loads in my old x-gear plugin but not in the new 3.5 update.. the presets are there but when i try them it tells me the amp ain't there! (i tried 'restoring gear' in the custom shop already)
should it be loading?

You have to manually copy them to /users/YOURNAME/documents/ik....

That worked!! Thank you so much!

Not quite. From the AT3 Free download page:
# Once inside the Custom Shop [of AT3 Free], select "Restore My Gear" under the ACCOUNT tab in the upper right of the Custom Shop window. This will activate the models from all of your previously purchased Powered by AmpliTube products for use in AmpliTube 3.

# You can now use AmpliTube 3 as your single source to access all your gear models PLUS use the new Custom Shop to browse and purchase additional models to expand your tonal arsenal.

# Your previous model collections are now available inside AmpliTube 3. This includes all Powered by AmpliTube products (AmpliTube Fender™, Ampeg® SVX, etc.) as well as the full version of AmpliTube 3 with all 160 models [if you own AT3].

Yeah, thanks for the correction, I was referring to the AT2 and X-Gear stuff ..

hmmm... The soldano price showing here is 20 credits

might have to do with the number of IK products I own
Same here too, I just got 45 credits now so I'd have a bit extra for more shopping later :)

I'm not sure X gear stuff loads up in 3.5

You lose the Ampeg BA500, but gain a solid state bass preamp.

You can buy the BA500 for 20dollars/credits in Custom Shop.

Oh, looks like you lose the analog Ampeg chorus stomp, too.

You can buy that back for 15...

I noticed there was only one install program for the 3.5.1 update. Does it know whether to install the 32 or 64-bit version based on the OS?

I would hope it's just a bug. All owned models should imo be available.

If I can't load the Ampeg BA500 which I already own and use into 3.5Free, then I won't load 3.5 Free but X-Gear instead - and then I won't access the CustomShop either, so it wouln't really make sense for them include this odd restriction.

i think i'll just run them in x-gear and save the credits for something else maybe! thanks for the reply

Wouldn't it be nice if you, IK, would advertise your prices including VAT...

20% additional charge is a fifth of the advertised price, doesn't sound much, but when you start ordering a higher number of credits, it adds up.

20% on 74.99€ is 14.998€, thats as near as damnit 15€.
So 125 credits DON'T cost 75€, they cost 90€.
And so with a purchase of 125, the "per credit" price is NOT 0.60€, but rather 0.72€.

Some other minor annoyance: when redeeming Jam Points, the store points out that only a "maximum of 50% of the product value can be paid by
JamPoints", but the Custom Shop nowhere mentions that.
Also, it doesn't mention that the credits won't pay for half the price of "item plus VAT" but instead only pay for half the price of "item without VAT".

Yeah, yeah, "the user is informed about the added VAT during the checkout process", I know.
Still, the way you handle your advertised prices seems a little dodgy.

That didn't work for me... just installed the free version, and have no presets, even though I can see them in /users/name/my documents/IK Multimedia/Amplitude 3/Factory Patches? There's no option to change this path either.

the "restore your gear step" worked to restore all of the freebie products into ATFree3.5, including the ba-500 from x-gear/svx uno. this is on a mac 10.6.7, so not sure if other configs will have the same result. Note: I had to quit ATFree3.5, run the "restore gear" step, and relaunch AT to see the updates.
