Works much better now!!

Loading presets in file browser is hassle free now
Had a few freezes of the gui in the beginning (knobs or dropdown menus suddenly not responding, had to close dummy window and reopen), mainly while adding new instruments/parts or changing parameters while sound was still playing. Somehow that stopped and I could continue without much hassles.

I'll report back when those problems would reappear.

Thanks a lot, can't repeat enough how I appreciate efforts you put into this.

Please specify some description to when does this happen (at startup, when tweaking params)
Does it crash every time or randomly?
Did you try turning off the GUI thread?
What are your ASIO buffer size, zyn buffer size, and what type of ASIO drivers do you use?

Last time it happened I only had to open the gui (without playing any notes) and upon tying to close it became unresponsive. 'end task' resulted in a bsod.

after some more thought:

Presenting:
ZynAddSubFX VST v2.4.1.470beta

ZynAddSubFX VST
ver. 2.4.1.470beta VST VDX version

- REWRITTEN FROM SCRATCH THE ENTIRE THREADING MODEL
- I'd say this is quite an important update, and a step forward towards the stability of this VST.

- Tested with no issues (so far) in latest Renoise demo ;)

(all below, hopefully for real this time :D)
- A (much) more stable GUI (hopefully)
- Fixed GUI corruption when moving windows, opening, closing
- Fixed GUI corruption with file browser
- Fixed GUI corruption in Resonance Window (when drawing by hand)
- Fixed GUI corruption when editing harmonics
- Fixed some multiple instance bugs
- Fixed Multithreading race condition bugs

=======================
- If you choose to have Zyn's windows on top of the host, all tooltips will NOT be shown (technical FLTK reasons...)
- If you wish to see the tooltips, please deactivate the option.

=======================

I'd really appreciate any feedback concerning the stability of this build on as many hosts as possible!

Just gave today's ver. a quick test and everything worked very well here. Previous versions gave me grief with the GUI freezing and failing to unload properly. Those issues seem to be resolved here. My deepest thanks for your on going efforts. (XP ser.pk3 AMD64 2core)

Brilliant! Playing smoothly, no crashing, no freezing...

I only tested it for about 20 min. but it looks like this is indeed the most stable version = most important update of zyn so far!

that's just great to hear!

but still I'm waiting for some users to see how it behaves on ableton live (don't have it, so I can't test) and other hosts that didn't like zyn before (@hlmst: does it work now in Renoise?)

Hi jackoo,

I have some feedback for you for Zyn being used in Sonar X1. First, a few DAW specs: i7, Win7 64 bit, Sonar X1b 64 bit, Zyn 470beta. Zyn is now working very well in Sonar - thank you! The only issue I'm having is with closing Zyn. If I close Zyn via the remote panel (dummy window), then all is well. But if I close it by disabling it or closing it in the X1 browser/synth rack, then I get the Teleport Server has stopped working (for BitBridge) or AuxHost has stopped working (for JBridge). And then Sonar is hosed and I have to restart it, sometimes having to disable SonarSTD.exe in task mgr first.

Also, if I try to open up multiple instances of Zyn, I get multiple remote panels but only one Zyn GUI.

Thanks, jackoo, for the great work that you are doing with this already beautiful synth.

@sagetone: Please try this version. It *should* fix your issues... in theory :D

Presenting:

ZynAddSubFX VST v2.4.1.475beta

ZynAddSubFX VST
ver. 2.4.1.475beta VST VDX version

- Hope it fixes the reported bugs with only one GUI showing, and not properly unloading.
- Fixed some more bugs inside the GUI threading mechanism
- Overall stability improved
- Big Tick - Zen Compatibility (Seems to be compatible with Big Tick's Zen 1.6 beta4)
(do not try to enable multiple outputs, or it will crash Zen)

Please feedback if you have any other problems, or if the problems you had with the previous version are now solved.

Thanks, so nice to have the main window open up front and not in the background.
The window insists on opening in a certain location on the screen but I can live with that. Think the hidden window was a turnoff for many so that's a big step just there.

gee V'ger, you're sooo picky :hihi: :hihi:

maybe next time...

Thank you for making it work with Zen. This is awesome.
