Good luck to IK, but this is not for me
Might be true for you if you already have AT3, but think about someone that is perfectly happy with just a tube screamer and a JCM800. No reason to buy the whole thing anymore. No unnecessary bloat.

I don't have AT3 yet. But I've demo'd it plenty of times. Plenty of stuff I'd never use. It will be interesting to see how much it will cost to get together a package with everything I want and nothing I don't.
I agree 100%, that's why I tried to make it clear that this was just my opinion...I hope you find what you want because AT3 does really sound awesome, owning a lot of sims I will say imo for just guitar AT3 edges out GR4 for the best (I have GR4, AT3, GTR 3.5 and VANDAL*) as far as the commercial sims go. If you want some serious fsu stuff GR4 has some cool things like the lfo and such that can take you to some wild places and GTR is not bad but does not imo keep up with AT or GR.

*I do not consider VANDAL to be in the same categroy as the others because it does not use 'models' as the developer of it calls it, it is a virtuaal amp. With taht comes some postive things and some negatives, the 'feel' is amazing but younger players are more use to the 'model' model it seems and more use to bringing up a preset as opposed to dialing in a tone. I do not mean this to offend anyone but having grown up with physical amps all my life I ammore use to dialing in the tone which is quick and easy for me :)

Anyone else getting "corrupted file" message on repeated downloads?

Edit: Gave up after 5 attempts. Perhaps due to their servers getting hammered. T2 connection here, so plenty of juice...

I'm in the spot as chj... This looks appealing for me since, I don't want all the "bloat" either, and I like the option to pick and choose my components as needed. I already have GR4, which I like mostly for the "FSU"!

I just keep wondering if something similar will be done with TRacks?

Hi Brian

I notice that Amp 3.5 Free comes with THREE microphones.

If I have NO Amplitube suites (3, Fender, Metal etc...) purchased already and,

if I buy a cab through Custom Shop, are just those three Amp3.5Free mics available to me?

Does buying a particular cab come with all available microphones used in that particular modeling?

Or do I have to buy all available mics at 5 credits each?

This is from the view of a potentially new customer (so LISTEN, Brian and IK):

I have been close to buying a guitarampsim several times. I've tried a lot of demos, all IK stuff since AT 2 among them. And a lot of them were good, and some very good.

Up until now, I always decided in the end that I did not need it. After all, I got real amps when I want to record serious stuff. For simple demos at home, there's no point in getting a commercial ampsim, except maybe for the fun. And the freebies are getting better and better.

But the demos were GREAT FUN, and because of that I follow amp sim threads here at KVR, and I was really curious about AT 3.5. I really liked the idea of the custom shop, because I saw that I could get only the models that interested me, without all the crap I don't care about.

So: AT 3.5... It started a few of months ago, with IK teasing and bragging about the outstanding new version. Now it's here...

Well...

The content of this thread alone should be evidence enough. AT 3.5 is a ship that sank at the moment it was put at sea. Technical issues galore, pricing, etc.

Sinking, sinking... Unless IK do something about it really quick. Do something about all the technical issues, do something about the pricing and the way custom shop works, and not to mention the authencification. Yeah, the new "gear" might be great, but it's NEVER going to be worth it the way it is today.

And IK: The next time you pre-market and release a new product, remember that YOU DON'T KNOW if IK and AT is the best, most accurate, fantastic amp sim in the world. YOU DON'T KNOW if you are better than everyone else making ampsims. Because you are NOT. So stop telling us you are the best, the most accurate, most authentic. WE, THE USERS OF AMPSIMS (free or commercial), WE KNOW THE ANSWER. I KNOW what's the best ampsim. It'll be the one I use at any given time (I use the Revalver beta right now, I love the sound of the amps, and in my ears, AT can't compete at all. I'll most likely RV 3.5 before the beta runs out.) Any other guy or girl knows the answer too, and it's a different answer than mine.

My verdict (and I deliberately give a f**ck about the sounds): This is so far the grandest failure I have ever seen when it comes to expectations meeting reality...

SO IK: GET YOURSELF TOGETHER! THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! IT SUCKS! I will definately NOT buy your products until IK and AT are rehabilitated. Sorry. But you made this trap for yourselves in the way you marketed this shit before it was released, and you fell right into it.

One last thing: I guess Fender, Ampeg, Orange and all the other companies that put their name into this are pissed off at you now. After all, their names are kind of dragged down in the mud too, aren't they?

So long IK, might see you again...

Way off the mark there bud.Seems to me to be a fairly decent marketing ploy, especially for all the people who already own a few of Ik amp suites. I'd say it is fairly well thought out

This is one of the most ridiculous posts that I have read here in a long time. Thanks for the laugh.

No kidding!

BLAH BLAH ..me not buying your free stuff.. BLAH BLAH..

If you read the thread you would realize that many of the issues are acknowledged user error!
If you live in a 1st world country you would realize that every product ever made is THE BEST!
I bet you really dashed IK's hopes of having another whiny halfwit for a customer
