@ mgpqa1, my guess is that they will do away with the express versions, the same way people are speculating FC express is a thing of the past too. I'm definitely watching for news. I'm not a Logic user, but I am a FC Express user, so I'm deeply interested in what purchasing options are going to be available!

@ LawrenceF and ttoz... that's the tradeoff with the App store... No more upgrade paths, just a cheaper overall price.

yeah remove the 40 GB of really crappy loops that i wouldnt touch with a 10 feet pole, not the 100 MB or less of instrumentsLawrenceF wrote:If they're gonna eventually put Logic in the app store for download (like FCP 10 will be) they'll have to remove something or it would be a really huge download.ttoz wrote:wtf? i HATE this idea. Logic is fine just the way it is, and just needs bug fixes and some minor features. Oh no. Say it isnt so. I rely on EXS and ES2 all the friggin time.

Doesn't anybody question the BS of the original post here?
As long as someone doesn't reveal the leak, it could be made out of thin air ... no wait ... there are more details that just leaked:
1) Logic will cost $1.99 at the App store
2) It will be rewritten completely in 128bit
3) It will be 100% compatible with Notator files from the Atari platform.
stay tuned for more "Breaking Leaks"
Let's face it, everybody who has seen the new Logic doesn't talk about it and everybody else is just speculating about a product we don't know that exist in the first place.
A lot of of points would make sense taking everything in account around Apple's recent direction and the new FCP release. Other things are just guess work.
Did anybody get the multi-page questionnaire from Apple last year about Logic Pro. Those questions could tell you more about the possible direction of Logic than some "leaked nonsense"

That's a wait and see, supposedly the new FCP replaces the express version.mgpqa1 wrote:Hmmm, before I sold Logic Studio, I came to the realization that I should have went with the Express version as I didn't need all the extras that came with Studio. With the removal of bundled VIs/loops/etc., I wonder if the Express version will be even cheaper.

Yeah, I thought maybe he just forgot to post the source...EdgarRothermich wrote:Doesn't anybody question ... the original post here?
I looked at the Apple forum and all I see (in the two Logic 10 threads) is people talking about what they think might happen... so... yeah. It doesn't seemed to be based on anything in particular.LawrenceF wrote:Leak link?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But, with current product business model trends i think this may prove to be quite accurate.EdgarRothermich wrote:Doesn't anybody question the BS of the original post here?

I heard they bought Reaper and they're going to make it all about the menus in this release.

I just watched those vids and all I can say is, wow! All of that at $299 is pretty impressive. I'm such a Vegas fanboy that I keep my pc around just for that app. Everything else I've migrated to my mac. Needless to say, I am definitely looking forward to trying FCP X out this summer.LawrenceF wrote:FCP has some really slick new editing features. Things I've never seen before. I'm a diehard Vegas fanboy who never even thought about switching but FCP 10 has me thinking seriously about taking a very hard look at it in June when it comes out.
I have no comments on Logic until I see something similar on whatever new additions are coming down the pike.

Vegas works on Intel Mac of course but there's that extra cost of buying a copy of Windows for it. I have Vegas (and FLStudio and a few other windows only apps like Corel Draw) running on my Macbook here running in Vista 32.UncleAge wrote:I'm such a Vegas fanboy that I keep my pc around just for that app. Everything else I've migrated to my mac.
Booting over from one OS to the other doesn't really take that long.
I think my next "desktop" system for general home use will probably be an iMac with Win7 on it also.

So far I have resisted that type of solution. There have been very few things that I miss from Windows. Vegas was the biggie and I kept my Q6600 around just to do the small video things I like to do. I won't be sold on FCP X from watching a demo though. I will have to use it for a bit to see if it's a good fit. That demonstration was good enough that I think it's worth taking a good look at. Well, that and it will be reasonably priced.
And as much as I'd love to have FLS on my system I'm not at all psyched about have two OS's running on the same drive. I'm not a newbie in that department either. I'd rather just play the hand I have. With that said there was a poster here in the not so distant past that said they were using Crossover http://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover/ with some degree of success. I haven't tried it out yet but if it works I may be adding FLS to my mac.

Not sure I'm a fan of a move away from physical media in favour of downloads, the size of music stuff is too big for most connections so the pressure is going to be on making it all smaller, then if you need to re-install your machine due to an upgrade or hardware failure having to re-download everything is going to be a pain.
Anyway, will see what happens.
