Custom Shop connects directly to your IK User Account. It will restore your gear based on what you have registered. You don't need to have the legacy products installed. All you need is an internet connection. Click the "Restore My Gear" tab in Custom Shop, and we will take care of the rest.soulata wrote:Just to clarify it even further: when time comes for a system reinstall or upgrade, do I have to install AT2, JHE, XGear...first, or will Custom Shop remember what I had before?

RAM usage is the same. We are aware of user concerns where RAM is considered. We are looking at possible options to address this in some future version. It probably won't happen until version 4, though.Chungas Revenge wrote:The problem I had with AT3 when I demo'd it was the huge amount of RAM it sucked up on my admittedly modest machine.
I was wondering with AT3.5 as you have fewer components if the RAM consumption is reduced, or are all the components still getting loaded but locked so you cant use them.

Hi,
Are the gear credit packs only available through online shop?
I'm thinking of people who cannot pay online.
If the credit packs are exclusive to IK Multimedia's online shop, will these new models eventually be available in larger bundles sold by retailers? This scenario would obviously negate the money saving scheme.
Best wishes,
JK

Sort of like the cache option in Superior drummer 2 where you only use the memory of the drums you hit or the ability to unload samples you're not using in kontakt 4. You'd save a hell of alot of memory. That would definitely work for these new plugins that take more and more memory as they get better.DarkStar wrote:Hmm, how about a "Load on Demand" option to keep the size down and to avoid loading everything?jensa wrote:With Amplitube 3.5 it's slightly more than 300 MB per instance in Reaper. This is no good at all so I guess I have to limit my guitar tracks to... 4 per project (yes, without the hassle of freezing etc). Hrmpf. Fancy interfaces though.chrisby wrote:This might be answered elsewhere but... does the new release no longer load everything you own as one big blob for each instance? Seems if I remember right each instance would take about ~250mb of memory. Not such an issue these days for most but back in the day more than a few instances would necessitate a track/freeze and archive in Sonar....
I think the rationale was so you could switch between different models w/o having to wait (which is fair enough) but if that's not how it's being used I wonder if they've allowed for that.

Still bloat though.ObiK wrote:Right click audio -> Apply track FX to items as New Take.jensa wrote:With Amplitube 3.5 it's slightly more than 300 MB per instance in Reaper. Heck, I could do with only a command line interface to Amplitube.

Thanks for the answer Brian. Looking forward to next version then, and good luck with version 3.5. Even though I too find the prices are a bit steep for my taste I appreciate the possibility to pick what I want.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:RAM usage is the same. do you have any idea when you might have sorted it out approximately?

Wow you really are busy today Brian.
While we're on the subject of gear not showing up & Amplitube 2 owners now having access to their gear. Is there any chance of getting Ampeg SVX BA500, matching Cab & Analog Chorus (Ampeg Uno) added to my gear? I think they come with Xgear, I used to be able to access them in Amplitube 3 until the demo trial for Ampeg SVX expired (demoed it during the during the recent Hot buy promo) then I couldn't use it anymore
Oh & please do let us know of any word of a fix (hopefully coming soon) for Amplitube 3.5 x64, Thanks.

I have the old ones installed and haven't noticed it not working, but haven't been really thorough with the checking.

If you read through this thread you will notice that on different machines different already owned models work. The official IK information about what works and what not is a bit unspecific. Being asked, Brian wrote he "believes" AT2 doesn't register in 3.5 without upgrading to 3 first, but some got it working nonetheless. Brian avoided the question rgarding the free X-Gear models so far, yet again some got it working, others didn't.
With others again, only some of their owned modules show up as registered, and the more often they restore their gear, the more show up apparently.
In any case it's pretty much a mess right now and none (the IK-staff included) aüppears to really know, which pre-owned products/models really should register in 3.5 and which should not. Hell, it might even be the case that some manage to get models in 3.5 restored even if that should officially not be the case. Who really knows the definite answer? Brian at least obviously doesn't.
(this isn't meant to be understood as a dig towards Brian or IKMM, I'm just meantioning the current state of affair. With a new product/marketing method like this, it's only natural that problems occur at the start. But I think it's important to appreciate they exist, otherwise they can't get squashed.)

Some linux coders have had success in giving users several quality choices on the dsp algorithms that are big resource hogs, so as you build your fx chain, you can back off in steps if needed, and weigh the sound quality Vs the projects demands.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:RAM usage is the same. Perhaps a dropdown menu with such choices could be made available on gui knobs
that control cpu/ram consuming items?
Cheers
