They came back to me within 90 mins and said that they are still going and could they help with my problem.

2 emails and less than an hour later I am up and running !!!! :D :D :D

Now that is what I call BEST SERVICE !!

It's a shame that YT cannot support their own product....

Wow. The fact that no-one from Yellow Tools themselves has - to my knowledge - made any public statement in several months really isn't good. Must admit, I won't be going near them.

Does anyone know if Yellow Tools' demise will affect other products based on Engine? Would like to see Engine phased out really, I must admit.

A splendid chap called Wolfgang and another equally splendid chap called Robert.

Drop them a mail on support (at) bestservice (dot) de

Great support.....

What is the problem you are having ?

Thanks for the info. (Sorry for the delay, it's been a loooong week).

The problem I had was that the store would not allow me to buy the e-license for the full Inde 3.0 library. Said that my serial was incorrect (which I'd copied from my User details so unlikely). It would let me purchase the Culture one, which in the end I did (I mostly use Culture). I wrote to Christian telling him of the situation and asking if he could sort it out. Nothing.

To be honest, unless there is any word of 64bit OSX version (which apparently there will be for Engine later this year) I'm completely done.

Post

I'm just about to update my Cubase Studio 4 to the latest full version of 6.
I use Yellow Tools Independence PRO on a regular basis.
As I am looking to go the 64 bit route, I am petrified that the installation of Inde 64 will go less than smoothly. My deepest concern will be the challenge and response system.

Post

I purchased the Indy 2.5 cross grade back during the fire sale and never installed it as I was building a new DAW at the time. Once the installation/authorization stories began cropping up I decided there was no way I needed to add one more headache to what was already a painful DAW build.

So what I need to know is this - sorry if this has already been asked/answered a million times before - I have a WIBU key for Majestic, I know Indy 2.5 doesnt **require** it, but can it be used in place of the b.s. challenge/response authorization process?

I think what did them in was the whole promotion where you could download the entire thing. I think that between changing license schemes at the same time as running such a big promotion with a lot of technical issues commonly associated with HUGE downloads, it ended up being a support nightmare. And like many companies, instead of working through it, they just ran. Stuck their fingers in their ear, singing loudly to drown out the noise, and pretend nothing happened.

It's a shame because the product is good. It was, IMO, the sampler that was second place to Kontakt, and above the rest. We were working on a review of it, and at first we were able to get support directly from Christian. Then, it just dropped off. Long story short, it's virtually forgotten now.

I DID get support from Best Service, so it should be known that they at least do care about customers. But I wonder if there is a point where they will just decide to drop it because they are handling all the support?

I'm a Kontakt user, and that likely won't change soon. But I really enjoyed Independence when first seeing it and trying it. It's sad when this happens to devs.

It's definitely a very good product Brent but it's going to be almost impossible to get anyone to spend more than a dime than they already have on it, especially when they feel like they've been shafted. The only way I can see YT carrying on is through Best Service and that seems to already have happened.

The question is what happens to all the users? Will the Inde Pro libraries work through Engine? (I think that needs to be made a reality).

I don't think the Indie Pro libraries will work with Engine, though I could be wrong.

And I agree, people aren't going to spend money. However, I DO think companies can turn around. It just takes time. They say it takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, and one second to ruin one. Time will tell.

I would really love them to turn it around and I hope they do... been using YT since 'Culture', supporting the smaller dev etc...

YT have had long enough to turn it around.
After Jorgen/eXT, Devine machine and several others I've concluded there's a reason a lot of devs stay "smaller".

It does look to me like YT have gone under. Best Service have said they have now taken over customer support, but no-one will be drawn on the status of the company itself. Given how long this has been going on, and the lack of any comment from the company themselves, it's pretty safe to assume Yellow Tools are no more.

I'd hope Best Service phase out using Engine, but I don't see any sign of that unfortunately. I just tried the great sounding Forest Kingdom library, but despite many attempts I can't even get the library to load. Kontakt is THE platform... all other resistance is futile!

I bought this and Epic, and had problems installing Engine 2. Tari was extremely helpful and suggested un-installing Inde Pro 3 (which was useless anyway as we all know). Engine 2 installed with no hitches and I am enjoying Tari's fine work now.

This technique might be the ticket for you too.

As for Inde Pro 3, Best Service has been helping with this issue also and I think I am near to getting my upgrade monies worth.

Although I am not happy with the YT fiasco I am finding Best Service and Mr. Tarilonte very customer friendly and willing to help as much as they can.

I love Indy pro and will continue to get great use out of it for some time to come. The culture sounds in particular. I do find the yellow tools demise sad and a bit pathetic. Myself and many others were there at the beginning and stuck through many updates and variations to end up at the strange convoluted mess that it is now. Still a great sound library, super fast and easy mapping, and nice fx if you don't mind squinting. Pretty sweet mixer too.

If software was hardware, now would be the time to buy.
This shit'll be vintage.
