I'm considering a mobile hardware device that is bigger than a iphone/ipod for live performance both when DJ'ing and just performing melodies, beats, etc. and I have a few questions:
Have you used anything else besides an apple product and found it to work well?
What apps have you used for that non-apple device?
What app do you think is best for the iPad?
- for ableton live?
- for deckadance / tracktor / etc. ?
Is there any app out there that can currently control ableton and a dedicated DJ software like deckadance at the same time?
If not, can you go back and forth between apps to control both on the same hardware device?
Do you need to bring a wireless router to use something like the iPad as a midi controller without jailbreaking it?

Also, has anyone noticed a significant difference in ram from the iPad 1 to iPad 2. I'm assuming the iPad 1 would be fine for a MIDI controller right?

Just generating midi hardly taxes the iPad 1 at all, so as long as an app isn't doing something extremely graphically intensive it should run just as well on the iPad 1.Adambomb337 wrote:Also, has anyone noticed a significant difference in ram from the iPad 1 to iPad 2. That said, unless you can find a really good deal on an iPad 1 the iPad 2 is definitely worth the money.

I was thinking the iPad 1 would be the way to go but if I connect through USB, I won't be able to give it power while I perform. I guess the iPad 2 has longer batter life and the extra ram might make it worth getting.kuniklo wrote:Just generating midi hardly taxes the iPad 1 at all, so as long as an app isn't doing something extremely graphically intensive it should run just as well on the iPad 1.Adambomb337 wrote:Also, has anyone noticed a significant difference in ram from the iPad 1 to iPad 2.
