For a while I'd been thinking about reamping ACE and Bazille via a decent DI or preamp - basically anything with a couple of nice chunks of iron in there. So I started testing this out with a Neve 5012, allowing for a tad of clipping with "silk" active. This is not so much about "analogue" but "solid".

Obviously, the choice of transformer is the key to getting a sound that has real body and weight. No need for compression or any other outboard / tube porn in this scenario as the iron does all the work.

Curious to know if others have experimented with reamping for live or production work ... ?

Good idea. Any hints for transformer mojo would be welcome. So far I only have a Fatso jr as a mojo reference, but I'm open to suggestions. Maybe one day we can put it right into the synths.

In the band i was in a few years back we used a massenberg eq in a studio when we were recording .Everything sounded better through it specially on bypass.All that gold i suspect.

I don't reamp ACE but I do run it through Studio Devil's VBA about 99% of the time. Give's it that little extra something I don't get using anything else.
