You *may* remember, that I mailed months ago,
proposing a unique feature, that's still missing in software-land:
ducking with constant/fixed reduction ( set by ratio ).
Back in the day, the ValleyPoeple comp. modules, offered this great feature.
Interesting. I'll see what I can do. ;)
It looks like, this is not possible with COMPassion ?
Yet. And I think that's an important point ;)

It's on the list.
... and a BIG wish :
Can You add the zoom state of the reduction meter to the 'save default' parameters ?!
Yes.

Should be possible with the "ceiling" parameter... if you want for example constant 5db reduction, set ceiling to 5db and "overload" the threshold and ratio so that anything that comes in triggers a reduction of >5db.
That's a good idea :)

doesn't matter which of the two i use (the zoomed-in graph, or the mini one), it crashes in both cases.
still need a screenshot?
Yes please.

I do that here, I see no crash. What slope is it set to? Is it enabled or disabled? Screeny would be awesome.

screeny :

i tested it some more, it doesn't crash with a HPF slope of 6db/oct, only when 12/18/24 are selected.
update : it also crashes when i choose 'shelf' instead of 'HPF', and drag that to the far right side.

one other thing :

that 'sidechain' on/off switch (underneath the dry/wet knob) doesn't seem to do anything.
look here :

the switch i mentioned is in its 'off' state, but inside the menu it's on.
or am i missing something here?

cheers!

it adjusts the values for me, but not the actual knee graph picture....(AU in Logic...)

ah.. I should check that.
because the graphics wasn't changing I assumed it wasn't working.

edit: actually it works fine. if the ratio is sufficiently high enough the graphics does change as well.

I can't confirm and I also use Reaper 3.76 (32-bit).

Dammit. Still can't repro here with 10.6.6, Live8, testing VST and AU.
Does it depend on any particular preset? I tried with the "Smooth" preset.
Can you email me (dave at dmgaudio dot com) the preset that's crashing it? :S

That's the external sidechain button. Hit that button and it'll use the External sidechain (assuming you've routed one) rather than the internal signal as sidechain source.
The s/c EQ is a further (and separate) option.

i just emailed you 3 presets that crash Ableton Live. mail is named :

'Compassion presets that crash the sidechain HPF/shelf"

also tried factory presets, still crashing (also with the 'smooth' factory preset).

thanks for the explanation regarding that external sidechain knob.

it sounds too amazing!!!!!!!HEEEEEEEEEELLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just tested the demo for a few minutes and this really seems to be the one dynamics processor to rule them all :)

I mean, it's almost like it's making a statement.
This is by far the most characterful bug I've ever had.

Dave.
Digital Performer has some WEIRD things going on. Not to say that Logic isn't weird and tweaky, but every Logic bug I have had ends up being a fault in my own code that doesn't show up in other hosts. While the DP bugs end up being just strange, like not having permission to access certain user folders that every other program can access.

Anyway, congratulations on your release!

Looks like this one got lost :

"Can we have mousewheel support for the 'hidden' parameters, as well ?!"

Respectfully disagree, there's way too much parameter tweaking going on for something I'd want to throw on every channel. Give me an SSL bus comp and an 1176, I've got work that needs to be done.
