Why doesn't iPad have decent presentation software?

When I bought my iPhone I bought a couple of Office type suites in the hope that I would be able to edit Powerpoint presentations but the promised functionality never materialised. I tried out an iPad 2 in store this weekend in the hope that this situation had improved as in principle a large multi touchscreen is ideal for the sort of interactive Multimedia "presentations" I create but unfortunately it looks like even the much vaunted Keynote is very limited on the iPad. As far as I can tell it's not even possible to create hyperlinks between objects (so touching a picture would bring up another picture or slide or media object) and it only seems to be possible to add photo objects - no video or even audio objects, which is useless for my purposes.

Anyone using an iPad that can confirm this and is there anything better? I would like to buy one but I need decent Presentation/multimedia editing.
