I'm here to (try my best to) make people happy. If I can't do that, then you need to do whatever works for you.
I'll be around
Dave.

ttoz, it is your money and your decision. I am 100% for Fab Q, it is sweetness on every level. The GUI 10/10 the sound 10/10 and the CPU hit is way more than acceptable for what you get. You'll find that crafting the sound takes mere seconds with just a few clicks and no stupid fake knobs.
I have not regretted it at all and it has aided in precision that I need.
As for EQuality, it just does not appeal to me regardless of the claims. The GUI is clumsy and nothing kills my inspiration more than fiddling around with a GUI.

If you can describe to me what's fiddly, I can improve it.vaisnava wrote:The GUI is clumsy and nothing kills my inspiration more than fiddling around with a GUI.

Of course, with EQuality, you don't have to have the "stupid fake knobs" visible, and you don't have to use them at all. Everything can be done right on the graph.

The GUI of EQuality is fine IMHO. It's not clumsy at all I think. However, the GUI of Fabfilter just looks cleaner IMO, but I guess that doesn't mean it necessarily sounds better. Their both awesome EQs and the sound is a matter of personal preference.

My version 1.11 has a "no knobs " mode..... I can change frequency , Q and level with mouse wheel .....
Remind me what ProQ has that this doesn't ???
I can see why Dave wants more input ; seems like if somethings missing ( ?) he could probably make it happen with ease ......
Maybe I should demo proQ ???? IS THE GRASS GREENER ????
P.S.
Maybe folks are missing the shrtcuts and ctrl alt or shft modifiers .... Dave said he was coming out with a new
PDF manual ... "That's the ticket "
( at least then we can say with aplum " did you RTFM !!!"
)

Well, some very big things, actually (which gives the impression that you haven't spent any time with Pro-Q).contrary wrote:

It has far more available bands and it is an "anything anywhere" EQ, which means you aren't limited to some bands having to be certain filter types and others having to be other filter types.
At least that's what I remember from demoing it a while back, so someone correct me if I'm wrong about any of that.

DaveGamble,
As far as fiddly... it is not as straight forward and clean as Fab Q. Fab Q requires no other steps outside of point, click, drag, right click select. Done. No buttons needed, no knobs needed, only click and drag with a nice and useful analyzer. It also has a nice wide open GUI.
I cannot find a single flaw with Fab Q except that you state your EQ sounds better in the "high end". However Fab Q still sounds spectacular.
I am not saying any of this to knock EQuality... but as redundant as it is, to each their own. Maybe you could make your mix version even better than Fab Q, that would be interesting!
I also think I speak for most people when I say that simplicity in the creative process is key... 'any' clutter or extra step is just a nuisance.
Contrary,
Why use "cntrl, alt of shift" if I do not have to.
Just one less thing to remember.

That's a good point. EQuality has stupid fake clutter.vaisnava wrote:

LOOK MA ; NO UNSIGHTLY KNOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe I indicated that I haven't had a go with ProQ ( You didn't notice the "HMM , Maybe I'll demo it " part of that post then ??)
I've been happy with DMG . I'll see what Dave does in his next chess move before I demo the FAB one ( Because I'm confirmed gear-slutty and will just end up wanting it !!!!!!
AND I need the scratch to get my ComPASSION)
