If so, then why bother with Pro-Q? It is a very good VST EQ, and so is EQuality. You already have one, so unless the more open design of Pro-Q attracts you, you don't really need both.contrary wrote:

This voting is useless I think.
They are completely different!
Pro-Q is a colder EQ that tends to "overwork".. I mean you have to be more carefull with it. I like an interface and LOVE work of L/R mode. But it doesn't seem to work well with Ableton live (f.e. "step back" option doesn't work at all)
EQuality is a really clean, Quality EQ which can suprise you with results you can get. It's warmer than pro-q and I love to use it on basslines. It has nice filters as well. You clearly see what's going on of every freq but sometimes you may feel lost in number of knobs.
It really depends what sound it is, what do you want to get etc.
So once again

Equality and Compassion are a SICK combo. And Fabfilter's plugins just flat out rule. DMG and/or Fabfilter = if your mixes suck, you suck. imho, of course.

Do you know I have been looking for a new EQ and before even finding this thread decided between these two being voted on. Could not decide at all. Found this vote and thought at last there will be a consensus and yet it has been no use at all as it is basically a draw

It's pretty obvious there is no winner here in terms of which is a "better EQ", simply because the decision was made not on the quality of the EQ itself, which after all, is kinda the point of an EQ in the 1st place. I think it's fair to say Dave's done a good job with EQuality so much that now it's standing up there with the Pro-Q's and Sonnox EQ's of this world. (I heard a comparison between EQuality and the Sonnox one recently)

After actually testing EQuality. I find that my first impression is that it feels musically better than Pro-Q - and others too for that matter. Seems smoother in the low bass frequencies and not that harsh in the highs. And I've been using alot of other EQ's during my years (lately been using UAD's Precision, Neve and Pultec). This is my first impression, at home, so I'll try it out in the studio later on as well.
The GUI design though, could be made even prettier - a bit too much waste of empty screen space IMHO.
Anyways, I wish the developer good luck. It's hard to get your name out there when there are so many already established companies.
I'll have to checkout COMPassion now.. damnit.
