Well, I've planned to give it a little page on my new website. I might outline some of the lesser common features there.

Thank you. You are a legend.

The main problem with Tyrell's implementation is that it's too hard to control IMHO. It's hard to find a setting other than 100% that allows for smooth frequency sweeps of the slave oscillator.
AHA!! Given the ultra fine grit that you can get from this synth, I was trying EXACTLY that for some kickass sweeping chorussy sounds and wasn't able to come up with a workable long stretched paddy sound. I would actually come to conclude that this might be the case, but only the clear word like that from the dev makes me feel not so stupid anymore. I thought I was missing something. THANKS!

Urs wrote:Hmmm, I havn't given much thought to portable installations on Mac yet. That's mostly because the plugins need to be installed in fixed locations anyway.

You can always install in the user location though. Presets from ~/Library/Presets/u-he/TyrellN6/ will not show up under "local" but under "user" then.

Hope this helps,

;) Urs
Hi Urs,

Many thanks for your response. However, having installed in the user location, although I do now see "user" when I hit load, unfortunately I still can't see any of the presets.

It seems a shame that the mac install can't see the presets from the pen drive as the Windows version can. Also, even if the user install did work, I'm intending to use the pendrive install on several machines which means I'd have to install the presets locally on each machine before being able to work each time.

BTW. Thanks for all your great work. I already own Zebra and ACE and think they're wonderful!

Well, I'll evaluate if Mac file aliases can be made workable somehow... I think my stuff only follows those unix-ish symbolic links but not the Apple aliases...

Thanks Urs, that would be much appreciated.

I've had more time to mess with it, and this is some good stuff, Urs. Oscillators, filters, envelope contours - it all sounds good. Having that Jupiter 8 around for inspiration and reference must have been useful. I gather this wasn't intended as a JP-8 emu per se, but some sounds I'm getting out of it sure put me in mind of a Jupiter. I'm rather fond of poly synth sounds made from narrow pulse waves, and Tyrell has become my new favorite for that - it does them very well. If Tyrell is any indication, DIVA is going to be a must-have (and a Core i7 is probably going to be a must-have to get a decent amount of polyphony with it, but I'm due to upgrade anyway, LOL).

Just want to say thanks again for Tyrell.
I like it a lot, and will work on a free bank of presets for it asap.

If I set Voice as Osc1 tune modulator with Tun Mod = 12:00 and Voice Stack = 2 it seems that that tunes the 2 voices of oscillator 1 to an octave apart. But with Voice Stack = 3, rather than 3 voices spanning 2 octaves, each an octave apart, something else happens - the result sounds dissonant.

Why? :?

I think you get +0, +6 and +12 as voice goes from 0 to 1 in number-of-voices steps.

Okay... so Tun Mod = 24, Voice Stack =3 should give 0, +12, and +24

Only it doesn't appear to do that. :?

Ah, wait... it goes from -1 to +1. However, it doesn't do what I'd expect either. Might be a bug...

It seems for 2 voices with increased Tun Mod one voice rises in pitch, one remains at constant pitch. With 3 voices all three change pitch.

Anyway, not a problem, I don't think it's any less useful as is - I was just trying to understand exactly how it worked.

Sorry for this late answer. Work overload. Demasiado trabajo. ;-)

I have been asked to publish the patches I used for the first demo song.
'The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long'.

You can find a zip with 30 patches on http://www.synthware.com
Please look under Menu->Products.

There also is a video showing the arrangement, for the rare case you would like
to see my pointless try to combine sounds in a musical way.

Have fun, this is a great instrument
... and I have a software überraschung coming to all Tyrell users in 3 months.
