haha, as "promised", I bought it. I have a bunch of paypal money from countless things I'm sold lately so I couldn't justify NOT buying it.
Next up, RP delay (though maybe not tonight......)

Can't go wrong with Paypal balance money. Sort of like stock options. Wish I had some.

Last month, I spent a bunch of my Buchla/Serge savings on...
-car repairs (my wife's new Volvo is no longer the bargain I thought it was
-health expenses (f**k cancer)
-wife's graduation present (finishes her first master's degree this month, she deserves something special)
So I decided to give up on my 4U modular dreams and just buy a bunch of other stuff I've been lusting for. Last month the Easter Bunny brought me...
-Elektron Octatrack
-Eventide PitchFactor
-EH Deluxe Memory Boy
-DSI/Roger Linn Tempest (a spot on the waiting list anyway)
-New MacBook Pro
This month I'll be ordering...
-KuSH UBK Fatso (modded Empirical Labs EL7 Fatso)
-some stereo tube compressor (not sure which, I'll need to book some studio time to test a few out)
-3U of Euro modules (ES3, Z-DSP, TWF, A-188-1, Geiger Counter, uStep, some utility stuff)
-a shit-ton of cable and parts for DIY projects
Luckily this year has been very good for us financially. So good in fact, that I'm going to stop taking tracking/mixing/VO/ADR gigs until I get the next 3am album done. I think this summer should be a lot of fun.

That is the only way to do it, man. Good for you.hibidy wrote:Well, I have teh zero debt so.........
It's tough not to buy stuff on credit when credit is available but it's such a nice feeling to know that all of your stuff is actually yours. I was debt free until I bought my wife's car last year. Hoping to get that paid down in 3 years though.

Hi chaps
Sorry for a brief thread hi-jack, but my query is genuine and i would be very grateful for your experienced advice.
A guy living reasonably near me is auctioneering his Roland SH-3 and also his SH-3a for approx £400 each.
I've asked for a link to the auction site and also some pix.
He says that his SH-3 works 100% (!) but it also has quite a bit of panel corrosion.
The SH-3a is allegedly 'near-mint' without corrosion.
I'd prefer the Moogish filtered SH-3.
Would you go near with a bargepole at £400?

My GAS hasn't been that bad but recently it's been like a dam with a crack in the wall that's getting bigger as the pressure builds.

Sh-3a can go for around $800 on ebay, so $650 isn't a bad price. My buddy bought an SH-3 for about $1200 a year and a half ago and it was in pretty rough shape (though was functionally perfect). £400 for either seems like a fair compared to going rates. It all depends if that sound appeals to you. The oscillator is pretty unique, but everything I've heard has kind of a Organ-like quality to it.Doug1978 wrote:Hi chaps

As far as the issue of corrosion... where is it corroded?
