Check out used US Hamer Doublecuts, mainly the Special.
Same concept as the Mira, both are based on the legendary LP Special DC.
These Hamers came in a multitude of versions and finishes, P-90, HB, plain mahogany, maple top, you name it.

These are serious guitars, killer tone, nitro finish, Duncan or DiMarzio PUs, and can be had for a steal with a bit of luck.
Make sure you get a US model, not a Korean Slammer.

And it's still a beauty ... :tu:
I only brought up the Hamers as affordable high quality Mira alternative.
Haven't seen a s/h Falcon in ages ...

a nieghbor was here a few months ago and had a Hamer hollow body electric that was pretty nice and not big bucks.

I dont know if it was a falcon or not but back in the late 80s I played a Washburn that looked like that but it had a Kahler on it at a music store in Manchester New Hampshire. I didn't have cash on me at the time and when I went back to put it on layaway it was sold...it was very nice, love at first touch :)

I mentioned pick ups earlier.

I have a Bullet Strat.
I want to replace the pups.
The like the bridge pick up because depending on the amp I use it can twang like a Tele or scream like a Strat.

The problem is that there is too much noise with the single coil. So I want humbuckers of some sort. Either single coil size or full size.

I want to keep those characteristics (twang and scream), but I also want it to work well with a lot of gain. Almost metal type gain.
I like to sometimes use a lead sound with creamy smooth sustaining distortion. Somewhat like Satriani or Vai.

Any suggestions, or do I need 2 guitars?

I'd love one of those Specials with the P-90's or maybe even a Hamer Eclipse with the mini-humbuckers. Man, just a slab of mahogany, two pickups, and let's go! In the meantime, I'll make do with my beloved Daytona.

If at all possible, check out the "vintage" noiseless pickups. I don't think they are cheap but I had them in my strat and it sounded great. (not the reason I sold it). On the tele I used to have I had put in a duncan "lil 59" and it was great, but it's definitely closer (intentionally) to a standard sized HB.

If cost is an issue I'd recommend having a look at GFS Neovin silent pups http://www.guitarfetish.com/NEW-GFS-TRU ... c_291.html I've got a set of Neovin Fat Vintage on a cheap'n'cheerful Skylark Curvycaster and they are superb :tu: I had a set of Fender Vintage Noiseless on a equally cheap'n'cheerful Harley Benton HBT2000 tele style guitar and while they were great pups, if Neovins had been available back then I would have opted for them.
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

Tough situation.
A few thoughts :
1. I'm with hibidy all the way regarding the Vintage Noiseless PUs, and no, they are not expensive at all. Others may disagree, controversial topic.
The VNs also behave great with higher gain.
2. Don't use the included diagram, Fender messed it up, don't know if and when they corrected it. Any other Strat diagram will do nicely.
3. The supplied 1 MegOhm pots are much too bright, the VNs arguably sound a lot better with 500k or even 250k.
4. Bridge PU - a few options :
-- stock VN, works fine but doesn't get too heavy
-- I like a VN Tele in the bridge with Strat M & N, it has more twang and punch
-- Other good bridge options, fat noiseless SC style, include the Hot Noiseless and the Kinman HX 85
-- the multitude of single coil shaped humbuckers will be better for extreme high gain but completely lack the Fender character, note that this also changes the Knopfler B&M tone for the worse
Splitting ain't much use, too weak to imitate a s ingle coil
-- if you don't mind the woodwork here are two unconventional solutions which might solve your problem :
---- Duncan P-Rail like I described here :
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=255014
Its best sound however, the P-90, isn't humbucking either.
---- or you could put in two bridge PUs side by side, almost looking like a full size HB - a VN Strat directly at the bridge and a single coil sized HB like the Duncan Lil' Screamin' Demon, Hot Rail or DiMarzio DP189 Tone Zone S next to it.
This will not fit a standard HB rout, a bit of easy conversion is required.
You'll also need a mini toggle or push-pull pot to switch between the Strat circuit and the HB, easy.
Obviously this would be as close to ideal as you're likely to get. Coupled with VN middle & neck pickups you have covered both Strat and metal, 100% noiseless.

Keep in mind these are only my personal preferences, other brands also have great noiseless SCs, Kinman and DiMarzio Area come to mind, can't speak for the GFS as I've never played one, nice price for sure.

Your best bet would be to compare some options over your own setup, borrow guitars from friends, local stores or take advantage of exchange/money back programs - all the mentioned solutions have slightly different pros and cons.

I've also had a pair of GFS Lil' Killers and a Bigmouth Bridge on another guitar and these were every bit as good as the Neovins I have now. There's better pups out there, but for sheer value for money GFS are a great option imo.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open to see if I can check one out locally. :tu:
My guitars are pretty happy with what they've got atm, so I won't probably order a set just to try out.
The Gretsch styles look mighty interesting though, at these prices ...
I need more guitars. :P

I hope I'm wrong but it appears I won't be buying another guitar.

I've been unusually busy doing other things at home so hadn't played one of mine for over a week, not since the jack socket on my Acepro AE625 packed up, but I decided to have a quick go on my Richwood RG-18-CE acoustic earler as it's lay there untouched/unloved in it's case for ages.

I've got a progressive neuro disorder but was more than a little 'ed at how much I struggled to play it, I just couldn't get comfy holding it and the lack of co-ordination in my left hand has deteriorated markedly. I've been well aware my playing has been going downhill slowly for a number of years, not that it ever had far to go tbh, but even so. Hopefully this is just down to my being more active than usual, but I fear not as my playing getting worse was, in retrospect, the first indication something was going on health wise :(

Definitely aiming to get one of those Sustaniac guitars.
The Jackson models seem nice.

That sounds like a rather interesting guitar in the history of american made electric guitars - the T-60.

Is that what model you bought?
sorry, forgot about this post...it's a T-15:
