There's definitely more Tron in their archives. I'm hoping that the teaser at the start of this thread meant some of this stuff might be available soon for us in ST format as well as in Reason.

Here's what he said in March in another thread:
Squids wrote:Now, we're revisiting our "Tron Archives" and discovering that we have more Mellotron, Chamberlin and Optigan samples that haven't been released yet plus a more thorough resampling of Optigan grooves with new discs. You can watch a fun little video taken during a sample session just last night (the video is just me playing around... enjoy the ending haha).

Anyway, in the digging we've found some really rare stuff including tapes from a guy named "Sandy" who worked at Chamberlin and I bought a bunch of Prototypes from years ago (crazy little story about driving out to the middle of nowhere from LA). So we're pulling all of that stuff out and releasing them first as refills for Reason. Then maybe Kontakt and other formats.

That's exciting stuff... Now let's hope something materializes!

I just updated the PDF for this thread (now up to 232 pages). Besides all the great tips and tutorials it captures, I'm also planning on using it for all the expansion tank reviews it has. I've still got 4 freebies coming (maybe 6 if we reach 300). It's really nice to be able to type in "xyz collection" and quickly flip through all of the related posts in the PDF viewer.

If no one offers a better suggestion, I'll probably post them on my web site near the end of the month. If anyone wants them sooner, just PM me with an e-mail address to send them to. The group buy PDF is 1483 KB and the Miroslav PDF is 188 KB.

Squids wrote:I'm the one who did the video tutorials. Yes, you get more sounds and additional articulations. I think if you love the Miroslav that you have then getting more makes a lot of sense at this price. I checked to see if this was going to be extended and it's not so there's less than 2 weeks left and that's it. Hopefully some objective opinions will be shared that might help. In my semi-biased opinion, I wouldn't personally want to be without the full version as there are situations where I want to try out different sounds and the more variety I have the better. More to layer together as well. Keep in mind that the full version of Miroslav Philharmonik was originally a hot seller when it had an MSRP of $599 so to get it for less than a hundred bucks now is also a no-brainer in my opinion.

Plus, we're offering $15 in epointz toward something else for anyone who can prove they have Miroslav CE (that's for people who got it recently or even before). Just a gesture of kindness to help make the decision easier. But only get it if you love those kinds of sounds I'd say. Beautiful orchestral and choir sounds.
Squids

Is there any way of checking if I got my 15 epointz? When I signed up for this GB I send the message, with a quote from your previous post mentioning this generous offer. Also I gave a reference to an epointz earner from this thread. I have to shamefully admit that I have no idea how many epointz I had before this GB, but I know I have 17 epoints now. I am not sure if I got any new epointz, but basically, whatever I had before plus 15 plus 5 for a reference should give me more than the 17 I got now. As I implied, I am not an epointz watcher/hunter, so I might have been given everything, I just do not know how to check the epointz history to confirm that.

Also

You mentioned earlier in this thread that there will be a miro extra pack coming. Is this still on? I by now pretty much have all the instrument packs that are to be chosen as the extras and I am not much into the loop packs, so the miro extras will surely be a great bonus.

And for those who want to know about the CE upgrade.

I would say GO FOR IT. I had the no-brainer CE edition and upgraded to the full version now. The CE was great, but it is like a new world when you have the full version. I use Notion 3 extensively for my compositions, and the beauty of miro is that the full version is fully integrated with Notion 3, seamlessly in the background. You don't have to worry about the mapping of patches and articulations. Notion and Squids have done all that for you. You just enter articulation marks on the score and somewhere in the background it magically happens.

For me, the upgrade was worth much more than I paid.

FIRST TIER ON THE GROUP BUY IS HIT!!! One FREE SampleTank library of your choice for those that purchased any of the VI in this Hot Buy from www.esoundz.com this month.
It's better than that - we are on the Second Tier! :)

Having bought SampleTron, I am really happy with Squids Extras for SampleTron owners as first choice and OmniSynth 2 as second choice (strange but true).

I am now hoping a third sneaks in by the end of the month. :help:

I really do think this is a great deal already, and hopefully will turn out to be an even better one.

PS - Squids - If the 1st page could be updated to show "2nd tier hit" it may help if someone is quickly browsing and does not realise there are aready 2 extra choice available.

Nothing strange about being happy with Omnisynth 2 as a second choice, Crackershaun. If you don't have ST2.5 (L or XL) or Sonik Synth 2, it's a decent way to fill in the gaps and get a piano, a drum set, an organ, etc, in one fell swoop. It won't have the *best* of each type of sound, but it has one or two of just about everything.

If you haven't been keeping up with the thread, I mentioned earlier that the nice electric piano in the "larger bonus sounds" folder of Omnisynth 2 is horribly out of tune on the low end. You can edit that and save it as a child preset.

You'll probably want to do that, as it is otherwise a really nice Electric Piano - works well with the effects (and with outboard effects like Amplitube).

To tune your EP, click the button (really a box) that says ON next to the word Zone in the lower right corner of the ST interface. The ON button will light up and the keyboard map at the bottom of the interface will show you the different zones.

Click on the SYNTH button, then click on the lower zones on that keyboard display one at a time and tune them using the FINE knob.

When you get it sounding more like it should, save it by clicking the SAVE button on the right side of the interface. That will bring up a dialog box asking you to name your creation. It will then appear on the instrument list as a child preset under the electric piano.

The quick math for everyone hoping we'll hit 300+... that 267 was yesterday's update. We have 33 to go and 14 days of updates to get there, or less than 2.4 per day needed. We've typically been moving along at 4-5 per day, so we're on pace to do it.

Any targets after that would need some help - from a big push to spread the word after we hit 3 bonus libraries, as yet unannounced Memorial Day Weekend sales or other surprises, etc.

And the third library isn't in the bag yet, so anyone interested in the upcoming Miroslav Outtakes library should save one of their selections, just in case we screech to a halt and don't make it to 300...

We hit 400 +.Wait to see it.

Are any of those extra Expansion sounds already in Sampletank or SonikSynth2? I was thinking of buying in, but didn't know if there was any overlap from those.

Not much. The idea is that these libraries are meant to expand not duplicate. So apart from a few example sounds in SampleTank you've got a whole lot of new sounds to add to your set up. That's why this is such a great deal. More sounds for the money and you get to choose.

There's pretty much no overlap at all between the SR expansion libraries and SampleTank 2.5XL. There are typically a few sounds here and there in those libraries that are repeats with Sonik Synth 2, but not too bad.

If you have questions about specific libraries, please feel free to ask. I can do a byte-by-byte comparison on the parent samples using AntiTwin. We did a bunch of those comparisons during last year's big XpansionTank group buy.

Good to see you back, sensone.

To answer your earlier question about the two Tron libraries: for someone who has Sonik Synth but not Squids Tron Collection or SampleTron and who wants to use a bonus selection to get one of the Exclusive Extras libraries, I think I'd go with SampleTron Exclusive Extras.

I still think Sonik Synth 2 will have all the Tron sounds you need and that you'd be better off using your selections on other titles instead. But if you really do want more Tron - without buying one of the two main packages - SampleTron Exclusive Extras would give you more.

Two reasons:

(1) It's a little larger and has more "stuff" than Squids Tron Exclusive Extras.

I can't say whether you'll like the sounds of one set more or less than the other, only that SampleTron exclusive extras is a bigger set.

The idea of the "exclusive extras" is that they have the sounds in one of the main packages that will be missing in the other. For example, Squids Tron Exclusive Extras has the sounds from the Squids Tron Collection library that were not repeated in SampleTron.

Note that most of the best sounds are featured in both the main SampleTron and Squids Tron sets, so those sounds won't be in either one of the Exclusive Extras titles. But you have Sonik Synth, which already has the main sounds covered.

(2) if you decide later that you want to complete the set, it's usually cheaper to get Squids Tron Collection vol 1 than it is to get SampleTron.

The full library would be either main package plus the Exclusive Extras from the other package:

Squids Tron Collection vol 1 and SampleTron Exclusive Extras, or
SampleTron and Squids Tron Exclusive Extras.

So if you use a bonus selection to get SampleTron Exclusive Extras, you could get the rest of the library later by getting Squids Tron Collection vol 1:

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1769

As you can see from its web page, it's cheaper than the regular prices for SampleTron.
