I've used The Glue quite a bit in Logic 9 and am now trying to mix a track in Live 8 and it's constantly crashing when I load an instance and/or try loading a preset.
If I load Activity Monitor in OS X, it shows the CPU is fine until I try loading an instance of The Glue and then it goes "above 100%" and immediately crashes live with an "Out of Memory Error."
Anyone else have this issue?
My system is: iMac 2.93 i7 w/12GB of RAM running 10.6.7.
Thanks!

Yeah I had that exact issue and emailed Andy. I sent him some crash logs and haven't heard much since. I rolled back to a previous version I had and it fixed it so I haven't been too fussed to chase it up.natqueencole wrote:I've used The Glue quite a bit in Logic 9 and am now trying to mix a track in Live 8 and it's constantly crashing when I load an instance and/or try loading a preset.

Rolled back to a previous version of The Glue? If so, can you tell me which version works for you?timothyallan wrote:Yeah I had that exact issue and emailed Andy. Hi natqueencole. I apologize for this bug and hope to have a fix soon. The previous version that tim rolled back to is v1.1.3, which is available from your account. I'm back home after travel now and I'm grabbing an i7 / nehalem machine for testing as this problem seems to be cpu specific and something I can't reproduce on my core 2 duo development machine.natqueencole wrote: Rolled back to a previous version of The Glue? Yup, Andy is right: 1.1.3 is the one that still works great for me, I just double checked.
No better excuse to upgrade your core2duo's CPU specs, compile time will speed up tons!

I wish I could just go out and buy a new machine! No, I've arranged to rent an i7 macbook pro for the week, it arrives on Friday, and I expect it to be pretty easy to fix the bug when it arrives. Well, till then I'm going to get stuck into doing some audio examples for my next product, so hopefully on Friday I'll be able to post an announcement about ittimothyallan wrote:Yup, Andy is right: 1.1.3 is the one that still works great for me, I just double checked.

A quick new update on the i7 / Xeon issue. I have done stress testing with The Glue in Cubase and Reaper and Logic on Mac and Win with an i7 and a quad Xeon and I can't reproduce any problems at all. I was running 12 copies on multiple audio tracks with different presets and swapping the oversampling around loads and it never missed a beat. I tried loading and saving and recalling previous songs, not a problem. This means I've tried everything from all the bug reports I've been given and can't reproduce the issue which is bad news, since if I can reproduce the problem and don't know what it is and I can't fix it.
Anyway, this is just one day of slog. I was hoping it would crash or hang easily, but it seems the problem is possibly due to other plugins or more complex interactions of usage than just having lots of tracks with lots of copies of The Glue on them using oversampling.
I will still put together a release for next Friday with the fix for the auto-release mode, and also the Mac 64-bit Vst, but it doesn't seem likely at this stage that I will be able to fix the i7 / Xeon problems since I just can't find them. I'll keep everyone posted.

There is one bit of good news for people that were experiencing slow redraws. There was a problem introduced into the Juce framework I'm using that caused these issues which has apparently now been fixed. I'll update to the latest latest Juce just in case that fixes things for the i7 / Xeon people as well.

Did you test in Ableton Live 8.2.2? That's where I'm having the issue. Logic works fine...andy_cytomic wrote:A quick new update on the i7 / Xeon issue. Me as well, with no other plugins loaded. I've got a 12 core Mac Pro... wonder if it's a dual CPU issue.natqueencole wrote: Did you test in Ableton Live 8.2.2? That's where I'm having the issue. Logic works fine...

I've got a Core i7 CPU with hyper threading. The 12 core Mac Pro has hyper threading as well I believe.timothyallan wrote: Me as well, with no other plugins loaded. I've got a 12 core Mac Pro... wonder if it's a dual CPU issue.
