seems like its the usual reaction of whining at the possibility that someone, somewhere, might just wind up with a better deal. its a tough f**king life, innit.

I never once mentioned him as "a problem" because without him, there wouldn't be a DNR Collaborative Design Group. And we are not advancing in that direction, we are following a predetermined business plan that is based around future revenue. Reason was never a problem for the customers either - everyone ended up with a valuable product for a minuscule investment. Reason was a problem for himself, unfortunately.
Imho you really need to get to grips with the concept of professionalism. This is not an appropriate statement for a public forum.
Sorry, Reason is my Godson and his father is an investor. I am not into public relations, I just exist as a partner in the organization, and was not expecting to need to add more information than I initially did.

For the new management, the status of that pack is something to look into, too. The selection in v1.1 is a really nice sounding one for "urban" drums, good value for money, and adding it back to your lineup as a normal, static pack might be a good idea.
It was only removed to prevent further purchases until we add fresh content, as we were not completely satisfied with some of the original content created for it. The new package will include quite a few sets of acoustic drums Reason had prepared for us. You can still access your copy of Ammunition via the download system :) We will inform current users of the update when it becomes available next week.

As you said you're all new to Internet forums, that's one of the reasons I said "be sure to listen to your customers, but once you have decided to give out a bonus item, don't get sucked too deep into the debate once the deal is already out there." It's easy to get too involved in an exchange like that, and one might end up saying things they regret later.

Also, some forum users might be writing just to wind other people up and to get an emotional response (I'm not saying it's happening in this thread, but generally on Internet forums), known as "trolling". It's good to know when to back out, especially if you're officially representing a company on any forum.

The good news is, you shouldn't worry about this discussion that much (really!) - call it a lesson learned and move on :). Take care of your customers and be consistent, and stop by to say hello on forums from time to time. Things will work out, the DNR product line is a quality one.

It does appear to have turned into a baptism of fire :)

So,

1. Reason has left the company (good luck to you, Reason, I hope we meet again on the internet).

2. Mixcontrol will get updated into another plugin, so customers won't be left in the cold in the near future.

Right?

That's cool with me.

Good luck to all people involved with this.

VitaminD wrote: You are missing the fact that my qualm isn't with handing out mixcontrol at no additional cost, but you are slighting your early adopters and full-price customers by handing out the updates for free as well. I guess this is great business in the short term as you are increasing sales, since people are going to spring for one of your products as it is bundled with another at no additional cost. However, you are not looking at this in the former and potential customer's point of view.
I feel compelled to comment... I don't think it's unreasonable for a company to offer free upgrade to (only) new and recent purchasers of a product. It makes sense for a company to do this- 1) to encourage people to buy now instead of waiting for a newer version to come out. And 2) to avoid telling a recent customer that there is a new and better version of the product they just bought last month. If a new and improved version of a widget comes out 6 months after I bought the widget, I wouldn't expect anything from the company. If I bought a widget and 3 weeks later the new and improved widget appeared, I'd feel like I was deceived.

I agree that extreme price fluctuation can be frustrating, but it seems invalid here as we are dealing with "new management".

I'm happy to see that MixControl is reaching a lot more people now and I don't see any problems is giving it away with other DNR purchases.
What is happening is exactly what happened last year when NI updated Reaktor to v5.5; all the contents from Electronic Instruments 1 & 2 was added for free.
As I had bought the two expansions (and for much more than $39) I could have felt cheated. Yet, I didn't, because I realized how much I had enjoyed (and still do) using them.
So you bought MC for $39 a few months ago? Think about how much you've used it. Wasn't it worth those $39?
For me it was several times over as it is my go-to channel strip.
MC is clearly at the end of its life as such and making it available to all DNR customers will be a way to intice them to upgrade to the replacement.
If I read correctly one of the first posts by DNR Collaborative (username), previous owners of MixControl will be given a free licence to the new plugins. AFAIK, nothing was said about those copies given for free at the moment and I can't imagine DNR upgrading everyone for free. So yeah, early adopter will certainly get a free upgrade if promises are kept. Let's just wait and see.

As a final word, I'd like to spread my gratitude towards Reason and DNR and bump a link to the MixControl skin I designed. It took me a long time to design it and it may make this great pluging a little more visually attrative to some.
