I initially made the same mistake, but once I read the mix lock tooltip and realized how it works, it became a non-issue.

I wouldn't bother with the change at this point. You do a great job explaining the functionality on the GUI itself.
As long as it is easy to use, that's what I'm looking for.

In the next few days, I'm putting together one last build. This will address the Pentium IV issue some people were reporting - this was due to some change in the Juce framework that has now been changed back. I am also going to try to fix the numerical entry issues for as many hosts as possible.

no offense but why would someone get this reverb plugin when there are convolution plugins on both platform for free ?
If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.
If not Make a Mac version of your Plugins Please.

To re-phrase the question: Why buy a guitar when there are free recordings of guitar available?

An algorithmic reverb is alive, dynamically evolving and ever so much more tweakable / playable. It can more easily be manipulated into your own unique sound versus trying to animate a snapshot of a still life image (IR) of a once dynamic device or space.

Convolution verb is a dead fish with lipstick. Sure, you can add some modulation to the tail, but you still have to pretend it's swimming.

Not saying dead fish can't be tasty with the right preparation, it's just that I like a more full featured menu for my artistic dishes. And ValhallaRoom is a gourmet ingredient 'available on both platforms' at a minnow price.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

:lol:

you should work in marketing.

Seriously though, realmarco, listen to the demos; if you can't hear the differences then fine, stroll on by. Anyone with an ear for lush, 'living' reverb will hear the qualiy in valhallarooms tails.

because they find it useful?
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Please, show me a convolution reverb that sounds 1% similar to this plugin. I'm not talking about better or worst, they simply don't sound like this.

And there are free convolution reverbs, of course. What you can't find is really good, usable free impulses apart from the half dozen ones that some vendors offer as a demo. The really good ones are very expensive.

This reverb and the one that is on a group buy right now combined kill almost every impulse avaliable in the market.

even if they sounded exactly the same, i'd pay money for real-time tweakability. i like the sound of logic's 'space designer', but the fact it has to reload the impulse every time i look at a control makes it crap for anything other than using presets

and if you can't hear "why", then you don't need it....count yourself lucky, you've saved yourself some money

and those that KNOW, get to keep their little secret away from the masses (providing shaun makes enough sales, of course)

I've started the tips and tricks for ValhallaRoom. The first one posted is how to get a gated reverb out of VRoom:

http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com/2011/0 ... d-reverbs/

I'll be covering short drum rooms, realistic and unrealistic halls, and huge spaces as the week progresses. Feel free to post your Tips & Tricks requests!

Valhalla DSP quick tip: :hihi:

Place VRoom on a send (mix 100%), set it's predelay to 0 and place a Valhalla FreqEcho before it (mono mode works best).

Set feedback and shift to 0 and the mix to 100%.

Now you can set the predelay with the FreqEcho delay parameter, including tempo synced values.
This also adds a simple high and low cut to VRoom.

Strange things start to happen if you choose higher delay settings and start to dial in some feedback and shift (try the stereo mode here too) :hihi:

If you want complete madness simply place an instance of Shimmer (in one of the stereo modes) after this chain and adjust to taste :hihi:

Just experimented with this chain and got some nice results :)

Cheers

Nice work. I'm taking notes for future plugins (i.e. useful predelay stuff).

My latest blog post shows how to use ValhallaRoom to get a realistic concert hall sound:

http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com/2011/0 ... ert-halls/

I relied on Leo Beranek's "Concert Halls and Opera Houses" for acoustic measurements, and dialed in some presets that matched the listed responses for a few occupied concert halls.

Don Gunn, Seattle-based freelance engineer/producer/musician, let me know that he used ValhallaRoom while mixing Death Cab for Cutie's life performance for VH1's Storytellers (which shows tomorrow night at 9 pm). A few clips from the show:

http://blog.vh1.com/2011-05-24/storytel ... for-cutie/

Don used 3 instances of ValhallaRoom for the musical performances, 2 on vocals (short and long) and 1 on the drums. Here's the settings:

Code: Select all

<ValhallaRoom pluginVersion="1.0.4" presetName="DCfC-drum room" mix="1" predelay="0.0199999996" decay="0.0145145142" HighCut="0.442281872" earlyLateMix="0.653999984" lateSize="0.839999974" lateCross="1" lateModRate="0.0343434326" lateModDepth="0.439999998" RTBassMultiply="0.333333343" RTXover="0.0909090936" RTHighMultiply="0.444444478" RTHighXover="0.530201316" earlySize="0.192192197" earlyCross="0.100000001" earlyModRate="0.0909090936" earlyModDepth="0.0500000007" earlySend="0" diffusion="1" type="0.25"/>

Code: Select all

<ValhallaRoom pluginVersion="1.0.4" presetName="DCfC-short vocal" mix="1" predelay="0.190799996" decay="0.00650650635" HighCut="0.368456364" earlyLateMix="0.483999997" lateSize="0.109999999" lateCross="0.289999992" lateModRate="0.0545454547" lateModDepth="0.200000003" RTBassMultiply="0.333333343" RTXover="0.0909090936" RTHighMultiply="0.444444478" RTHighXover="0.530201316" earlySize="0.0238238238" earlyCross="0.699999988" earlyModRate="0.0383838378" earlyModDepth="0.0599999987" earlySend="0.109999999" diffusion="0.75999999" type="0.25"/>

Code: Select all

<ValhallaRoom pluginVersion="1.0.4" presetName="DCfC-long vocal" mix="0.976999998" predelay="0.0494000018" decay="0.0200200193" HighCut="0.382550329" earlyLateMix="0.893000007" lateSize="0.899999976" lateCross="0.360000014" lateModRate="0.12525253" lateModDepth="0.300000012" RTBassMultiply="0.333333343" RTXover="0.062626265" RTHighMultiply="0" RTHighXover="0.597315431" earlySize="0.0222222228" earlyCross="0" earlyModRate="0.169696972" earlyModDepth="0" earlySend="1" diffusion="1" type="0.333333343"/>
It is pretty exciting to hear VRoom used in a "real-world" context!

I'm not sure which is cooler - the DCFC live featured plugin slot or the copy and paste function generally. Either way I plan to take full advantage of both!
