I VERY HIGHLY recommend you hire Dan Worrall (aka IIRS) to do tutorials. He is a master of this art. Very clear, easy to follow voice and awesome knowledge when it comes to technical stuff. I'm sure he'll figure out Compassion in a few minutes and whips up a great tutorial video!

I agree that it's a REAL big plus if someone doing the videos actually knows his/her shit. Some people (like me) are easily annoyed by certain kinds of voices and clarity of speech and thought is really essential.

The guy who does the propellerheads video tutorials is also very, very good.

I might try writing some videos myself, and let a few people have a sneaky look, and see if I'm up to the task. It's not going to be my forte, obviously, but I do know the software pretty well

Dan is as far as I know a freelance guy doing videos for whomever pays him.

He did all the Camelaudio videos as well and they are simply superb. I can not think of anybody better (well except Dave himself of course, provided that he can get a good balance between audio and talking.. and a good script!).

I actually prefer the spectrasonic and Josh from NI tutorials but I digress...the last video I saw of than was the fabfilter compressor which must be a direct competitor. but certainly if Dan, FabFilter or Dave have no problems with that. then definitely use him.

I'm fully aware that we have to run scared from the bully squires ; but It's very helpfull to be able and choose a mod just as an engineer would choose a hwd comp from the rack in the studio based on it's characteristics. This whole plan of attack ( which the DEV brilliantly conceived !) is in jeopardy if the synonyms are to vague for 99% of the non-compressor geeks out there !!

I'm afraid some of these descriptions are Greek to me !!!!!!

...I understand Dave's thinking and I'm sure with the right modes, this could be the ultimate compressor. I just don't have the time or desire to tweak it for hours when I can get comparable results within seconds by using something different.
As always, this is just my opinion. When I was young, I loved to sit for hours and tweak gear. Now, I just want to get songs recorded as well and as fast as possible.

I couldn't have said it better......I still reach for other compressors for the exact same reason....
more mods will help tremendously..although I do admit as I spend more time with it, I am saving my own presets and that helps tremendously too, but I still don't understand half of what the parameters do... hopefully one day there will be video tutorials.

I think ultimately what we want is to reach for a solution to an inspiration as quickly and as transparently as possible. I played around with ComPassion enough to realize that it's all there but what's needed is a good selection of ballpark presets to get us most of the way there. (So who's making the first commercial library? )

But maybe, another way of approaching this complexity is to create macro controls that tweak multiple parameters at once, like various NI synths, Alchemy and Zebra do. You could then easily modify global behaviors more smoothly and comprehensively as needed. You would have to be able to define ranges and curves/multipliers for each. Could get complicated to set up... but a lot simpler to use!
