I hadn't thought of it that way. Thank you for the explanation.valhallasound wrote:Unfortunately, in order to extend the parameter range, it would have to happen in the audio part of the plugin code, not the GUI. This would entail either extending the maximum range of the slider by default, which would break existing projects, or adding a parameter to change the range of the slider, which would break existing projects.TitusRaindrops wrote:Or a check box, unchecked by default, that extends the range of that fader. As long as it is off by default it doesn't break projects right?sauli wrote:Couldn't that be solved by having a hidden legacy parameter which when activated multiplies hi-cut by 0.75 and automatically deactivates when hi cut is edited with gui (but not when changed with host automation).

Thanks for this link and thanks to Sean for the explanation. Now, do I also need all three reverbs? I have to check the Valhalla stuff.Klemperer wrote:I once - in Sean's blog - asked about the same question concerning Eos, shimmer and room (which I all own^^ and love). Here in his blog you can read the developer's answer. (just search the answer below "Klemperer")opus_diaboli wrote:Are there significant differences between Eos and ValhallaRoom?

Thanks a lot, essentially think of all colours as shades of grey. e.g. black and red look almost identical to me as does a certain shade of grey and blue .etcvalhallasound wrote:That is something I will consider in the future. I know there are programs for checking out webpages for usability with various color blindness types, so I will use screenshots of the plugin GUIs to make sure there are no issues. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, and my apologies for having this issue come up.- I'm colourblind and the colours used for the selected Reverb Mode and Preset are impossible to see with my eyes
Yep, I'm on Windows 7x64 running Cubase 6.02x32Is this on the PC? It sounds like it is linked to some issues with Juce that were recently resolved, so I'll look into this.- In Cubase 6, when the plugin interface is open, you can not minimise the arrange window, the Cubase interface locks up and you have to Alt+Tab out of it and go back to get the app to respond again, any ideas? This also affects closing other windows in Cubase too.
Totally understand, perhaps in v2.0?This is a good idea. The main issue is that changing the slider range would break all existing presets and projects, as the current 0-1 slider range in VST/RTAS is mapped so that it goes up to 15 kHz. In general, changing slider ranges in an update, or adding parameters, is a bad idea for a plugin developer, as it will break functionality for all users that have saved projects. So the range will have to stay at 15 kHz for now, even though raising it would allow for a bit more sonic variety.- Have you considered extending the range of the HIGH CUT knob to span all the way up to 20 kHz? Sometimes it's desirable to get those shimmering high frequencies in the reverb tail.

I just posted the latest Tips and Tricks for ValhallaRoom, on dialing in Cathedral sounds:

I think this might be the last Tips and Tricks post for awhile, unless there are any requests.

I finally bought this this week. It is such a beautiful reverb, I absolutely love it. And a bargain. Extremely happy with this purchase and what it does in my music. I still hadn't settled on a reverb, this is now my go-to.

Pretty much sums up how I expect to feel on next week's payday.

I've got a beta 1.0.6 release of ValhallaRoom in the hands of a few beta testers. If any ValhallaRoom users want to test it, send me a PM with your name and email, so I can send you a link.
I've put a few bug fixes in there (regarding the predelay length when DEPTH is set to 100%), and the Windows version will fold in some bug fixes to the Juce framework.
I've also put in a new reverb mode: Dark Room. I'll talk about this more when I do the full 1.0.6 release, but suffice it to say that the new mode is DARK, spacious, and has a few noisy touches that add to the mojo.

Sean CostelloI knew the Dark algo was going to be cool, but this is just too insanely great. Just trying it on snare and some vocals - this is the sound I hear in my head when I think dense, lush verbs that don't clutter up a mix. I love that the high-cut doesn't seem to do much above 8k or so.

Don't really want to get into beta testing at this point, nor do I have the time for it - even though I wanted to say YES YES YES! But the Dark Room mode sounds great. Looking forward to checking it out!

Dark room algo sounds ridiculously nice. It's wide as hell and beautiful. Like a super vintage lex (minus some of the artifacts). It's almost too generous for Sean to include it in this plug. It really takes it to yet another level of universal usefulness.

Thanks for this awesome update!
The new dark room algo is really great!
Just treid it on this "thing" I'm working on: http://www.bronto-scorpio-music.com/Mus ... m_Test.mp3
Really great for some "mysterious" spaces!
Edit: One of the great things about Vroom is that I can finally send sounds with really sharp transients (like the sound above) through a reverb. It did't sound that great with any other reverb I tried before.
Cheers

Any plans for a "Wet lock" button? Kinda annoying the way the plugin goes 100% wet every time you change the preset

I like your sound! The dark room algo rocks so far for me.
