No we can't do that. But, we might be able to put together a crossgrade discount for the Miroslav Refill Gold for Reason to anyone who has Miroslav plug-in (purchased from esoundz). Something like a $50 off coupon that prerequires you have purchased the plug-in prior. Then all you have to do is purchase the VI first and use the coupon on the other. Ironically with both being at $99 it's less than the cost of EITHER of them at normal price. So it's like getting the other for free. Let me see what I can do on that.wbes wrote:I already got Sampletron and love it. I am debating on getting Miroslav. See my problem is i mostly work in Reason. But $99 for Mirolsav sounds great.... I was wondering if I bought Miroslav can i swap my 3 free library choices for the Reason Ultra Symphonic Refill????? or better yet Epik Drums???? please let me know Squids. Probably wishful thinking...lol

No worries i will just buy the ultra symphonic refill. I am sure it covers a good portion of the miroslav stuff.Squids wrote:No we can't do that. For anyone who has purchased Miroslav Philharmonik (passed to present) on esoundz (including those that purchase it now before this Hot Buy Promo Ends) and ALSO uses Reason and would like to have a discount to get the refill version too... this coupon code will save you $50 off the Refill Gold Bundle of the complete Miroslav Orchestra and Choir in Reason format:wbes wrote:I already got Sampletron and love it. Thanks to Torgo for the detailed answer! I sat up and read this entire thread last night, learned some good things. I saw a couple comments about Omnisynth 2. I use it for GM with Band in a Box, and it is a terrific low-cost solution for that. I also have the Ketron SD2 hardware synth that sells for $400. It is better for auditioning a lot of GM material, but once I've decided which song I want to work on, I can go back and use Sampletank beyond GM mode, and get better results than I get with the Ketron! The one exception is horns, which some here have noted is the one area Sampletank could stand some beefing up. But that is the Ketron unit's strength, so I really have the perfect set-up for Band in a Box. I know the name is cheesy, but it's quite powerful, and you can make some great sounding music with it. So, if anyone is considering the GB for GM use and particularly with Band in a Box, I can say it works great. (Just staying on topic).

Thats awesome and the reason IK is even in business 15 years after launching! Thanks for the support!Xenobt wrote:You're welcome!
And I agree! Between Sonik Synth, STXL, Miroslav, and the Piano Collection 2, Omnisynth and Hip Hop Instruments freebies, (not to mention the very fine ones in Squid's Rare Instruments Vol. 1, Acoustic), I'm SET for piano!
And damn near everything else!
And that's the beauty of this group buy, you can build a custom synth workstation, or fill in any blank spots in your library for under $100!
I bought in twice during the Expansion Tank GB last summer, (once IK, and once thru eSoundz) and the 5x1 VI GB last fall, and couldn't be happier!
I'm also a dedicated AmpliTube and T-rackS user, (also a GB!) and just bought CSR yesterday from MF. I'm COUNTING the days til it arrives! (Examigan, FYI, I bought it around 11pm est, and at midnight got an email it had shipped (!), so they may be figuring worst case scenario. That bundle IS a great deal if you don't need the Expansion Tank sounds.)
I've got Waves, Lexicon, NI, all the stock Digi/Bomb Factory plugs and tons of hardware synths, but lately, the power and quality of IK/SR stuff is all I need. And the new toys promise to be even better!
I've seen some grumbling elsewhere about IK/eSoundz "shills" who just post glowing comments on boards, but I'm not one of them.
Just a VERY satisfied customer who can't believe how much firepower I've got on an OLD ppc mac for under $1000.
I've gotten four other folks to buy into various GBs by word of mouth, and if we all do half that, 4x1, EASY!

Most of the sounds have already been released years ago. Still available on esoundz. There are some more coming that will be free to those that participated in the Studiophonik Group Buy or for sale for anyone who didn't. But that's pretty much it. The sounds of it. It might get a spruce up when SampleTank 3 is out. But that cool looking GUI will never see the light of day unfortunately. Was not my choice. I always wanted it and fought hard for it to come out as a plug-in but that one I didn't win.torgo wrote:Squids - what's the latest news on Studiophonik?
We've been waiting over seven years for the thing now, and even last year's big group buy teased it as "coming soon".
But, really, the main thing about these plug-ins are the sounds since the engine is the same in all of them. So it's just an aesthetic difference and that's it. If anyone was interested in Studiophonik they can get it today in the links I provided (with a discount too).

Thanks for the clarification, Squids. Another mystery solved!
Sorry it didn't go the way you'd hoped... "Hope in one hand and poop in the other, and see which fills up first!" Peggy Hill
What are the main differences are between Studiophonik and the VI libs? Is there much overlap with the Expansion Tanks? The $10 TANK10 coupon code has me listening to the demos INTENTLY!

If you don't already have the free preview StudiophonIK sounds, they're waiting for you on the Free Soundz section of the esoundz web site. The set includes one guitar, one bass, and one drum kit.
Also, if you got last year's big XpansionTank group buy through esoundz, you got the Wild Card library as an extra bonus. Take another look at it - it has a different guitar, bass and drum kit in its own StudiophonIK preview section.
Put the two preview sets together, and you already have 775 meg of parent samples - or over a third of the 2 gig total that is currently available.
So download the freebies if you don't have them and check them out for yourself.
The drum kits are split into components, so you can mix and match if you like. That's pretty cool, though you'll end up using four or five Parts to build your kit.
As Squids noted before, the guitars have the mix knob in the Macro section, blending between the clean sound and amped sound. I don't find that feature as impressive as Squids does (you can do that yourself with any sound by using Amplitube - and you can get the free version of Amplitube 3 from the IK web site to try it out), but I will note that the tone is pretty good.
Are they worth buying? Tough call.
The drums are pretty cool. But if you're looking to spend the money on higher end drums, esoundz has better options available. I'd probably put that cash into the Neil Peart Snakes and Arrows kit for Infinite Player instead. (It comes with Infinite Player, so you don't have to buy a new platform. You'll get everything you need.)
It's not on sale this weekend as it was during the Cinco de Mayo sale (when it was available for $50), but sales on it will come around again. If you're going to upgrade to higher end drums, you might as well go truly high end.

Blending between the clean and amped is one of the things it does but a lot of times it's blending or switching two different pickups. That you can't do with other sounds (unless both pickups were sampled separately). We actually modified several guitars in order to be able to sample multiple pick ups at the same time. It's still a cool library and concept for SampleTank. I will say that even the current Studiophonik sounds plus the new ones coming out are not only nice for ST2.5 but when ST3 comes (which I can't talk about but IK does on Facebook here and there) Studiophonik sounds will REALLY be useful that much more taking advantage of the new features. So it's a good investment for now and for the future of the ST format which is looking really good!torgo wrote:

I've spread the word far and wide, as many of you KVRers know!
I don't really post anywhere else, so I hope it helped. I guess time will tell now!
And thanks for the guitar pickup notes in Studiophonik, Squids. Nice idea! I've got both sets torgo mentioned, and will give it a try tonight. Is it the same for the basses?
And NO overlap in any of the other ST libraries or VIs? Cool!

I took the two gap filling tron kits and I must say I'm very satisfied. Had already all the xpansion tanks I wanted and had problem choosing which unwanted I should get, but decided to go for the custom "weird trons" set and it rules.
So, anyone who is in same situation and doesn't own SampleTron/Squids Tron - consider getting both Sampletron Exclusive Extras and Squids Tron Exclusive Extras as one huge "Weird Trons Xpansion Tank"

I just bought an Akai MPK25. My first keyboard with a pitch and mod wheel, and aftertouch. Wow does it make Miroslav 10x more expressive. I followed the tips for expressive legato lines here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=103808
This links the "Swell" to the mod wheel. I also maxed out the ATPUSH on the Macro to use the aftertouch. Assigned a button to "Tempo" and one to "Harmonics" (with a range of -3 to +3) in the Tune - Stretch menu. It sounds and feels so much closer to playing a violin (without of course learning all that difficult technique stuff required to play a real one).
I'm guessing the veterans have been using this type of stuff for a while, but it's been quite a discovery for a nOOb like me.
So if you're a nOOb sitting on the fence and you've got a mod wheel, try this stuff out in Sampletank Free. It makes a big difference.
