Now the hard part ( for me :-o ) : I made a mistake the promo upgrade is for the PolyKB Player to Full version, not the Xils3 LE. :(

So even with a better navigation you would have had hard times to find it. I'm really sorry for the loss of time and false joy

Now if there are some demands I could ask Xavier if he would be ok to make a short promo on the upgrade Xils 3 LE ---> Full version.

This would be a short promo and please understand I CANT promise anything, but yeah if there are some demands we'll discuss that !

Sorry for the mistake     x 1000
ahh now I understand why I couldn't find it  No problem, mistakes can be made by anyone at anytime.

But why isn't it at all times possible to upgrade from LE/player versions to full versions for a specific price I wonder which is often the case with "light" versions of a software product? I always thought that was the purpose of "light" versions in the first place :)

I would be interested to upgrade, since I had a very pleasant experience using Xils 3 LE for both of my submissions for the Xils song contest, using the Xils 3 LE for all sounds :) And hearing this sound demo I am again very impressed with what beautiful sounds it can produce

I'm trying to avoid buying new synths... :? I have enough already - too many for the time I have to use them(and learn them)...

I'm sticking with ACE, OP-X Pro II, PolyKB II, Trilian, Alchemy, Synthmaster 2.5, Subboombass and Toxic Biohazard as my main VST synths! :D

I also recently bought a Plugiator 2nd hand and an UltraNova brand new... :D

Apart from that I got Romplers like Kontakt 4(with Phaedra and Nostalgia etc), Wusikstation 6/Eve, UVI Workstation with Synths Anthology, Sonik Synth 2, Samplemoog, Sampletank, Free Kore Player with a few Kore Soundpacks, M1 VST...

I also have MonoPoly, Harmless, FM Heaven and Z3ta...

So I made a descision to only buy Soundsets now - I'll only buy a new synth now if it blows me away soundwise...or is mega-no-brainer-price/groupbuy price..

If your soundset was for one of my synths already owned I'd buy it - but I got to stop the gearlust - NOW! :( I really have got enough stuff!

Good luck anyway...

Maybe a groupbuy 'may' sway me!

Thanks again for your Kind comments Niels :)

So concerning the upgrades : Its always possible to upgrade from a lite version to the full version at Xils-lab.

Different companies have different politics here : Lets say that a global cool equation should be Price of light version + Price of Upgrade = Price of the full version.

I've seen some companies charging more ( ie lite + upgrade > full ). The thinking behind this is Well you had benefit from the lite version for xxx months/years aso, so you should pay more than the difference to go to the full version. It makes sense, but it also can be discussed.

Then some other companies, like Xils-Lab, or Native Instruments or Steinberg atm, also offer temporary discounts for the upgrade paths. Then its up to people to decide if they want to jump in the wagon at this time, or not. Note that its also a bit different for NI, because often you paid the Komplete pack at full price, so its only an offer to go to the n+1 version of the pack.

SOo there is atm a good offer for the PolyKB upgrade and :?: maybe :?: there will be another short promo because of the Xilistics ( yes thats its name ) soundbank.

I think the best way is to stay aware of the news for the companies you're interested and look at all the intro prices offers aso. Thats hat I do too, though when I really need an instrument, I just buy it, because well I feel my music, and pleasure of playing, is more important than waiting one year (in the best cases) for a promo wich can also never come

Well just my -personal not Xils-Lab- 0.2c here Niels : All companies rule their business as they want its not a problem for me as far as their users and themselves are happy !

Totally understand you even have more synths than I have :tu: :-o ( or about the same quantity tbh )

And starving synths need soundsets :)

As for the Group Buy, its not that easy to manage but well we'll probably give it a try somewhere in the future, but not for an already released synth, because ....... this would just be unfair for all our current users !

And now its time for a second demo where the focus lies in the contrast of a techno bass and drums with a kind of eastern Europe folk/medieval environment :o :-o

The drums were quickly made with Wave Alchemy sample packs, the reverb is once again Art Acoustic, and well there's not much more to say it was fun to make !

(We all live in an) Electronic World

Hard to find a musical genre for this one :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

and here is the first demo, so that people dont have to return to first post of the thread :

Cat on a burning Roof

And to Niels the title is from a movie with Liz Taylor and Paul Newman, so its a bit of Cleopatra in memoriam. Dont know if the title is correct in English though ( I think the original novel was from Tenessee Williams iirc )

I'll post a separate instruments demo later

But.. what synth is it?? :help:

And did the cat survive?? :-o
Thanks Nielzie Simon, and Luxth :)

Yes its a very handy track to showcase vintage leads

You'll notice it's a synth who has the Moog mono mode behaviour available, as well as other mono modes.

And no Simon its not for the PolyKB. I already made a lot of patches for the PolyKB II some of them beeing in the factory lib, but the big part in the XIls-Lab Analog Bag 2 soundbank.

But ......... its a synth you know fairly well !!!

Ha! I should know it well :) I was sure it was PolyKB

I thought there weren't any possibilities to upgrade from LE to full because I couldn't find any on the website, sorry. I must have overlooked the upgrade option. Could you show me please

Lotuzia wrote:And to Breakmixer : No it wont work with the LE version : Almost all instruments require the additonal modules ( Like EV3 and 4, S&H, etc) only found in the full version ie Xils 3
Sorry to those that have LE but I have to say that makes me more inclined to buy it. I have reservations about banks designed for both versions if it limits some of the possibilities. Sounds like a good bank.

Stunning! How do you get all this great and useful stuff out of XILS - 3, Laurent?
You're Mr. Bread&Butter ... ok, there are some great weird leads too (like Simon said, who's called Mr. AntiBread&Butter :hihi: ).

Thanks Stephen :)

The Xils3 LE is an awsome synth, given the price. But the full Xils expands the possibilities with additional enveloppes and many modules. I used only the Xils 3 to create the instruments ( As I understood you cant have both installed on a system at the same time, if you hve the full version it fully replaces the LE in your projexts) . I'm not sure how many could be compatible with the light version ( = sound strictly identical) but my guess is quite few, as I used a lot the left panel modules.

I'll see that somewhere in the future but if I derived a smaller soundset from Xilistics, it has many chances that it wont be a Xilistics LE but more a soundbank where I will be obliged to create additional presets exclusive for the LE version. As creating presets on the Xils 3 takes much more time than on an average synth, its very unlikely this will happen this year, if it ever does.

Off Topic : I read your thread about Kore 2 on the NI channel and must say that I'm completely with you !!! My guess : Kore 2 was as devastly powerfull than it was difficult to learn/configure/aso. Its simply TOO powerfull. Also I suspect than NI find advantages and a better financial situation when concentrating now on hybrid Hardware/Software solutions and selling soundsets ( Just my guess in both supputations though )

There's no mystery : I spend a lot of time on each preset, and I know what I want to hear before even moving the fist knob :)

In the Xils 3 case however I had to be a bit more organised than usually : As its a modular synth, I created some templates sounds, recreating the architecture of this or that old monster synth. So after it was easier to make the instruments.

This is what I recommand in the PDF manual joined with the soundset : Save the instruments you're interested in as templates ! Then it will be much more easy to make new ones !

Also I always focus on very usable, or "musical" presets ( A term wich could be debatted for years ). I insert some hype stuff too, but in a fair % of the soundsets. Just so that people can derive their own presets and have the necessary starting blocks. But tbh I wouldnt want to make a whole Dubstep bank filled with LFO triplets, I would just get bored before I'm done with the 10th one. Music rely on diversity, and I would like my soundsets to -ideally- look like music :)

I love a lot of Simon's presets. His sound design is like a fresh air in the synthesis domain :)
