If you have nothing to add to the topic, just stfu. This is trolling by the way ... to personally attack someone in a discussion, without discussing any points.
But well .. it's always the same with you two .. probably you won't ever change.
I just wanted to show people some alternatives before they waste their money on some lifestyle toys, which are actually not made for what they want.

Fine. I am sure your striking arguments, detailed knowledge, sharp reasoning and overwhelming evidence have convinced people not to buy any tablets ever.Nokenoku wrote:I just wanted to show people some alternatives before they waste their money on some lifestyle toys, which are actually not made for what they want.
So I guess that means you are moving on now?...What a pity, but hi!

No, I disagree. A notebook is not even close to the form factor or convenience of an iPad, especially the iPad2. If you don't "get it" or understand why it is a nice concept when it comes to music then just leave it alone. It's like people who use only software solutions can not understand the "inferior" hardware synth workstation solutions and vice versa.Nokenoku wrote:That's one of the many many reasons, why people should leave the tablet-hype alone and get a proper notebook.bmanic wrote:One major advantage when it comes to portability of the iPad over any PC slate is the huge battery life.
There are performant notebooks with a battery life of over 10h. And if you buy an additional battery, you can use it even longer before recharging.
It has nothing to do with specs, power, poliphony or anything like that. It has everything to do with work-flow and embracing the actual limitations. It has everything to do with "whatever makes a person creative".
We can all agree or disagree but one thing is certain, there is no "correct" or "right" way. Only different ways.
Cheers!

Wow.. you ever read what you actually type? Pretty disrespectful stuff there.. You don't have to "show" people what they should need or want. People can bloody well choose for themselves. Get off your high horse and perhaps try to understand WHY people choose differently than you? Learning about people and their choices is much more productive and respectful than condoning their choices and basically calling them morons for "falling for the hype".Nokenoku wrote: I just wanted to show people some alternatives before they waste their money on some lifestyle toys, which are actually not made for what they want.
Ironically, some Apple/iPad haters are more blind than the actual Apple target group. Blind in the "ultimate knowledge" that iPads/slates/whatever are just toys and gimmicks for the rich and/or stupid. They are so blinded by this "knowledge" and rage towards Apple/product that they never once pause to actually try to understand what people like about the thing, even with all the limitations. They just continue on and on, like sheep with rabies, spitting their venom all over the interwebs. Kind of sad really..
.. and the mandatory disclaimer: I use both Macs and PCs (mainly PC) and own an iPhone and a nokia phone, I use both hardware and software music applications/synths/samplers.. whatever the hell difference that makes.

History tells us, they can't.bmanic wrote:People can bloody well choose for themselves.
But let's not waste our time with this. I made my point. You can accept it or not. Your decision.
There's no reason to be upset or to bring this discussion to a personal level, only because someone writes down some thoughts, you don't agree with.
I have an iPad and a WeTab here by the way and use them from time to time (they are actually from my father). I know, why people like the feeling of it (I like that feeling too) and I know, how the "I want that."-idea is made.
The upcoming "FLStudio mobile" might be a nice app. I'd rather use it on a smartphone though. If I have room for a tablet I also have room for a notebook, which does just a lot more and -in my opinion- is also more comfortable to actually work with.

In an attempt...if I may be so allowed...to bring a sense of direction to this thread....has anyone tried an Archos pad? How are they for performance?

Why are you using that type of argument in the first place?

The beauty of raving narcissistic omnipotenceNokenoku wrote:History tells us, they can't.bmanic wrote:People can bloody well choose for themselves.
So coming to a tablet forum and suggesting that people are idiots who can not tell a laptop from a tablet, that tablets are not good for anything and that people are too stupid to realise that is not a reason to get upset?Nokenoku wrote: There's no reason to be upset or to bring this discussion to a personal level, only because someone writes down some thoughts, you don't agree with.
What do you expect? If you go to a farmers market with a big sign saying "down with the farmers", you will highly likely get in trouble.

That sentence ranks among the silliest things I've ever come across on an internet forum
No surprise that it was another apple vs whatever thing tho

I'm sure, if you guys actually think about that sentence, you will understand it.
I still don't get all the trolling here.
Why I came to this thread? Because I saw the title in the tab "Forum Posts" and found it interesting.
Then I've read all the post and gave my opinion. Then the trolling and personal insults started.

Making huge generalized statements about someone else's choice is going to net you those kinds of responses. "History tells us, they can't"? History, in itself, does not tell us anything of the sort.Nokenoku wrote:I'm sure, if you guys actually think about that sentence, you will understand it.

I get that you prefer a laptop, I do as well, but I do not go around proselytizing about what people should, or should not, get themselves. As I do not have these magic qualities of being able to say what people need or want.
Heck, in all, one could just as well argue we really do not even need computers or TV's or radios for that matter...sheeesh.

So you have absolutely no idea why people who like tablets and have bought one would be offended over lame assertive statements like this?Nokenoku wrote:I still don't get all the trolling here.
or like thisNokenoku wrote: I understand, there's a total tablet hype atm ... but really those things are actually the wrong choice for probably 90% of their customers, who had better gotten a smartphone or notebook.
or like thisNokenoku wrote: That's one of the many many reasons, why people should leave the tablet-hype alone and get a proper notebook.
Implying the 90% of these people have made a wrong choice due to hype, which by the way is proven by history?Nokenoku wrote: I just wanted to show people some alternatives before they waste their money on some lifestyle toys, which are actually not made for what they want.
And you have equally no idea why people who make music on iPads would take offence over statements like this?
Tell Gorillaz and ask them to withdraw "The Fall" because that album has to be a fake, right?Nokenoku wrote:I have to agree, that the iPad is more a toy than anything else and not really made for serious music production.
And you do not get how people can take offence of arrogant statements like this, right?
If that is the case, I really pity you, because then we are not even talking about trolling here, which would make sense, but boundless stupidity!Nokenoku wrote: I'm sure, if you guys actually think about that sentence, you will understand it.
Next time you enter a forum, try think before you write, OK?

The keyword is "general".trimph1 wrote:Making huge generalized statements about someone else's choice is going to net you those kinds of responses. "History tells us, they can't"? History, in itself, does not tell us anything of the sort.
I made a general statement about the majority of people, not about individuals.
So there's still no need to be pissed, if the general statement doesn't count for you, since in that case it actually wasn't addressed at you.
History shows us, that in general people are not able to do their own choices. They do, what other people want them to do. No matter if it's propaganda used by a regime or effective marketing done by a company .. it works on most people.
I won't answer nor read any of the ongoing -most likely heavy- trolling of IncarnateX.
