Been reading this thread-Phew!.
Just listened to the demo and think it sounds brilliant,I really like the Short draft demo sounds.I don't know if it sounds like the original as I have never owned one(I wish)or even been in a room with a real one(except for James workshop at Synth repair but it was broken).Sounds like tracks I have heard made with one though.
Very clever stuff to make something like this and a lot of long hard hours I bet coding it all-I'm sure it will do well-sounds great.

Well I'll try to complete Simon's answer a bit :

Yes and no would be my answer :

These are the instruments who can be very easily created :

* Any straight vintage recreation, or more modern synths, layers or splits : It can be Keys, Pads, Complex layered pads, Split basse + leads or pads, Stabs, basses only , classic leads, not so classic leads, arpeggios, Strings, Brases, bells, Atmos stuff, plucks, Organs, "Synths", etc etc, including all that was possible to program on the original synth of course.

These instruments can be created by using the Simple Mode Edit, or the easy to operate Layer and Split mode.

Then you can create some more complex instuments using the architecture :

Mega Huge leads ( Basses, Mono or Dual-Mono stuff) combining 8 layers, 8 different filters, 32 enveloppes, 32 Lfos and tons of dedicated modulations.

Or Dual independant arpegiatted instruments, or pads + arp, or 4 tracks sequences + arp + lead, or 4 track sequences + 4 leads, or 2 track sequences + one lead + one pad, or 3 track sequence + Pad + Bass.

You can imagine some even more complex instruments : Simon has made some combinations wich left me speechless

Also you can combine all the above with different Unison settings ( Up to 6 voices ) and different Play modes like many polyphonic modes, and 3 mono modes. The Glide can be polyphonic too.( it is per layer )

So the choices and combinations are VERY rich and there's a lot of depth, aka as liberty, in the way you can operate the layers.

But there are limitations : You wont make a 16 voices Keys instruments + Some strings + a bass, each one beeing adressed on different midi channels. In this way its not like a rompler, and it shoud be seen more as a PLAY machine bundled together with a POSSIBLE Research machine, if one want to delve into this !

All I did actually was to C/P an old 1983 Wikipedia article about Rolanda teebee 303, thinking it would make me look smart

Seriously some of the combinations you made between layers/playmodes/voices just gave me a BIG smile on my face
