I asked about doing presets when this thread started but i was too late...
Anyway i'll do a bank for this for sure and maybe for the PolyKB II too.

hi lotuzia,
can you comment on the cpu consumption of synthix, please. is it in the same league as the polykbII or more comparable to the xils3 which is somewhat lighter on my aging quadcore?
looking forward to the release and saving up some money.
cheers

I'd say its in the exact same league as the PolyKB II atm.
So on my equally aging Quad Core 9650, some stanard basses and leads might be as light as 5/7%, where some pads with unisson and a big release will it up to 55% ( but you can do worse
Some optimisation of the code is still possible, and it should be possible to gain an overall 10% of the CPU charge, but this would take another month so dont expect it with the first version released.
To Rosebudd, States and Ingo : We hear you, and we'll see what we can do :
Facts :
The Synthix beta is -very- stable, its an operational synth and could be used in production "as it".
It lacks one or two features ( including a special PWM Special Mode a la Synthex, wich is a mode where you can select only PWM on the original, while no other waveform is selected. This special mode was very tricky to decipher so it takes -much- more times. Atm the PWM mode is VERY close, but can be still be enhanced of some % emulation wise. Then the somewhat traditional PWM mode already implemented will get you very close anyway, its just to reflect the internal very complex original synth circuitry in the best possible way )
There are some other tiny bugs who can occur here and there but I've seen synths sold as V1.0 wich had far more bugs tbh. We might discover some additonal bugs if we release a preorder version, due to the ever increasing diversity of systems, hosts etc. But this is the same for all software, so I dont worry too much as Xils-Lab has always proved to be more than very reactive with these kinds of situations, and anyway it would probably be very similar for a 1.0 )
Then the Preset Library is not yet finished. When I say that it just means that the selection between all submitted presets is not finished. This is a very slow process as it involves many people, and exchange of data. We should however be able to select a best of the Library ( lets say a hundred instruments) and include them in a distribution package. Another 100/120 presets will then be added for the real 1.0 release for a total between 200/225 presets for the final library.
All installers should be checked for a final distribution package. Last time they were checked with a previous beta all was ok, but well you never know
Then I just finished yesterday the separate audio demos ( more than 45mn of presets in isolation but we will probably narrow it to less ). But the Videos tutorials etc are not. This might be of no means to some of you, but should we go the prerelease way the Synthix should also appeal to people who will want/need this kind of material to make their decisions in a way that makes sense. So at least people will be able to "hear" the Synthix on the site.
And best of the best in this case : The preorder price would of course be very appealling
Well what do you guys think ?

I remember such kind of "selection process" from the release of Synapse Audio Dune. This took really ages and at the end not even half of the presets were included. Rob Lee had so much left that he could directly release a new bank from the rest...Lotuzia wrote: Then the Preset Library is not yet finished. thanks for the info lotuzia. i, for one, would be interested in a special pre-order price. i also think it would be a nice move if existing customers (i own both the xils 3 and the polyKB) could be rewarded somehow.
cheers and looking forward to the synthix

Hey Lotuzia,
all of that sounds fine to me
... as I'd expect with a pre-order really.
PM me if anything comes of it! (I say PM just in case it's too much hassle to do a fully fledged public pre-order thing)
also for the record - it's only because of my experience with Xils 3 & PolyKB I/II and of course Xils' excellent support that I would even consider pre-ordering Synthix
And it's only because of my sheer impatience that I'd even suggest it
Though I hope not to encourage complacency with such enthusiasm!

We're studying the preorder option and will make announcements probably tomorrow
We were previously thinking of a Group Buy, but now we might do a preorder Group Buy, but we need to make it very simple cos I've seen recently many complicated (or too much sophisticated perhaps ) GBs wich imho dont make life of users, as well as companies, easy. Its also more complicated due to the fact we would like to reward our former users.
Meanwhile let's talk about life with :
THE CHAOX LFO :
The Chaox LFO is Xavier's last creature.
Until now we have lived with rather sophisticated synths wich sometimes had Random as modulation source ( Like Massive or Alchemy ) Random is cool because it adds a static random value to any target parameter.
Say goodbye to static random.
The ChaoX LFO continuously generates in real time random values with smooth transitions : it's no more static.
And welcome to the everchanging and breathing instruments. Whether subtle or drastic, the modulations generated by the Chaos LFO can add a lot to a patch.
And yes it has a nice display when you can really VIEW the Chaox functions ( several types) and also set the rate and amplitude of the Chaox LFO.
ChaoX LFO is one of the two Synthix "special" LFOs
Hope you'll enjoy it !

Are you guys doing a 1:1 exact replica of the Synthex factory bank?
