can anybody tell me why the os9 plugs(e.g. vet-1) that should work under osx doesn't appear as audiounits in logic(after au scan) (on panther)?

You might have missed the later edit I did to my last post :

"From another user : 'I just did the test again and VET-1 works fine OMM as Audio Unit with Rax (a bit slow to mount up) and SynTest, and as VST and AU both in DSP-Quattro X.' "

(After I posted that it wasn't appearing in Rax as an AU).

My guess would have been that the Pluggos that have not actualy been ported to OSX (such as VET-1, which is only an OS9 one) would not work after the Pluggo AU scan, as they had been designed before this facility became availible - AU is new in Pluggo OSX, previously they were just VST/MAS/RTAS.

But that user's response (from the VET list) seems to indicate that some of them can.
My experience with RAX (whch i've only looked at to test them - I use the RTAS versions) is that for :
OSX pluggo instruments : most appear as RTAS (except Lone Roger's PolyIII),
OSX pluggo FX : all of Lone Roger's and jK's ones, but only Cheby out of the Percolate ones.

None of the OS9-as-OSX pluggos i've listed above seem to appear there.

Then again, I've been a bit lazy with bothering to drop the OS9 Pluggos onto the OSX "Plugmaker" app , simply because most of them just work in Protools without doing this - so I wouldn't pay TOO much attention to my AU reports.

Try dropping all of your OS9 Pluggos onto Plugmaker, maybe give a report which ones appear in Logic?

ok so far i've tested the vet-1 and it worked with the plugmaker. now i can use it in logic 5.5.
two other cool delays worked also after the plugmaker procedure:
graindelay and randdelay from http://www.apparat.net the banddelay(from that site) had the same structure (or something like that) as the graindelay and so i had to choose which one i want to use(but i think it will also work somehow).
the jkphilter 0.3 doesn't work correctly: there is no sound when it's selected as an insert and the knobs don't do anything :( (no filter graphic)

more tests to come

au test part 2:

from http://postsomnia.com/ the ohce, fead and filteredstate are working well. doktor destrukto(or something similiar) and kinky sines can be loaded in logic(as audiounits) but they don't give a sound :?: :!:

the problem with jk philter is that it misses an object called ~filtergraph(i'll search later for it).

Thanks for those, how did you come across them? Is there a place where people are posting links to new user ones? (besides here hehe ..)
Have only tried Grandelay, found it to have some difficult GUI bugs (overlapping text etc) which makes it hard to use.

I think this will only work like Greg Davis’ plugs (which also have the same-identifier problem) – they’ll work individually if you take the clashing one out of your plugs folder, i.e. they’ll work one at a time but not on the same session.

This seems to fit into the pattern of the OS9 instruments mainly not working in OSX-AU unless they’ve been properly ported by the developer. Never heard Dr Destrukto as it crashes Protools in both OS9 and OSX, and Kinky Sines … errmmm … really just sounds like sine waves, I wouldn’t sweat on it too much :)

In Protools I’ve found that it works fine in OSX but not OS9. Filtergraph~ is, I think, part of the basic set that comes with either Pluggo Runtime or the Pluggo demo – not sure which as I’ve installed both. It’s in Application support – Cycling’74 – max-startup – filtergraph~ , so check there.
Actually, it’s also in the folders for Grandelay and Banddelay from the ones you recommended above.

New OSX pluggo. jK's Autowash v0.1 :

from here

" Autowash is a classic auto wah-wah. Tries to sweep resonant filter over given frequency range. Speed and amount of sweep depends on amplitude envelope of incoming sound"

Also seems to work in OS9 under Pluggo Runtime.

COMMENT
This makes me feel like Isaac Hayes :) Sounds good.
TESTED
All working fine (as long as you have at least Pluggo Runtime installed as per instructions earlier in this thread) :
RTAS : Protools Free (OS9); Protools LE 6.2.2 (OS10.3.2 )
VST : VSTshell
AU : RAX (after running Pluggo AU scan)

Just confirming that the new 'Pluggo 3.1.2 runtime installer for Mac OS X (updated 12 February 2004)' from http://www.cycling74.com/products/dlpluggo.html now correctly installs the previously-missing 'VstPlugLib.shlb' file that I put up on a link earlier in this thread, so you don't need to deal with that separately now.

Hi guys, OSX versions of the Gleetchplugs are now out at http://gleetchplug.ienproject.com/

The bundle features :

D-rive: an overdrive simulator
Sonic Reducer: a Sample frequency and BITs reducer plus a graphical multimode 2pole filter
Malestrom: Morphing Convolution and Ring Modulator
Therevox: a mouse Theremin
Cosmo: a 3 band spectral delay and a granulator
Bus Send: links plugs each other
Stereotronic: Spectral Stereo Enhancer

Great plugs, I betatested them. Unfortunately I can't use them right now as my OSX comp just died :(

Hi boyz n girls -
As noted before, I'm currently OSX-less due to a dead power supply.

Anyway, perhaps one or several of you lke to go to http://www.laut8leise.de/dl_software.html ,
download the OS9 pluggos SampleFlange, Bankomat and Phantophon, and say whether they're working in OSX ??

" SampleFlange is an audio effect somewhere between a chorus and a flanger.

Bankomat - an audio effect built for live use. Bankomat is an 8x multitap-delay network for every purpose from simple delay effects to algorythmic composition methods. Each of the delays has its own resonant bandpassfilter and its own gain and feedback parameters

PhantoPhon  is a filter effect with 4 soft sounding filters, blurring, and delays"

Also, go to http://www.plataforma-ltw.com/03/ltw/ar ... ciones.php
Scroll down to the post Strand/Gil Tertre Pluggo, grab the file Strand/Gil Tertre.zip, which unzips to three pluggos. Note : these don't appear when I drop them into OS9 protools free pluggo folder, perhaps they're OSX only ?? (edit : the post is Oct '03 so they can't be OSX)

" Tertre er-hu makes glitches on aleatoric buffer.
Tertre Orangasli has to be used with lot of care!!!!! or it can break your sound system, so turn it off before it is too late when used.
Tertrator is a reverb."

Post

Whups a dead .zip file at the above link for Strand/Gil Tertre - someone tracked it down on the DUC to http://www.synthesisters.com/hypermail/ ... 11350.html
at the MAX/MSP forum , scroll down for the .sit link.

Here's our reviews from the DUC :

MINDNOISE (testing on OSX)

Tertre er-hu - "has a certain naive charm", Frank N. Furter. Does nice things to audio.
Tertre Orangasli - audio destroyer, not so hot IMHO.
Tertrator - produces Errors, also not so hot IMHO.

ME (testing on OS9 Protools Free)

Same, except the Tertrator reverb works OK.
Actually got a few interesting sounds by playing with the "reverb / early reflections" balance, putting it close to the left with the reverb time about halfway up. Ran a voice through it (Nina Simone "Images" acapella version) , the early reflections picked up and extended melodic notes in an almost vocoderish way.
Tertre er-hu was fun too, as u say - sorta like random Squarepusher glitches for lazy IDM-ers , hehe ...

Post

Hi All -
version 2.1 of the Gleetchplugs are up : some bugfixes
http://gleetchplug.ienproject.com/

- Cosmo, a spectral delay + granulator
- Malestrom, a convolution & ring modulation plugin
- D-Rive, overdrive simulator
- Sonic Reducer, a sample & bit reducer
- Therevox, a stunning mouse theremin
- Steretronic, a spectral stereo enhancer

I think the bugs were mainly Cubase/VST related, but he hasn't listed the changes, so best to grab the new ones whether you're on VST. AU or RTAS.

Also,
Any of you who are on full Pluggo may also find this link useful :

Re above post : 10.3.04 - Gio has just put up another bugfix of the Gleetchplugs at http://gleetchplug.ienproject.com/ , though they're still numbered 2.1
... so if you downloaded them after reading that post a few days ago, go again.
