I'm sure that it sounds lovely and that the mentioned improvements are great, but since it looks nothing like Synthex, it makes me see it as "just another VA". And there are tons of those.
Why would you totally dismiss a software VA based on it's look? Especially considering they clearly said it's an "inspired by" and not a 1:1 emulation.

Xils Users : 45% Discount
I would be interested to know what price exactly we can discount 45% from

Can I assume it will be priced €149, like the other 2 Xils synths?

We'll find out soon enough. The 21st is only a few days away.

The quoted percentages and prices suggest the price will be set at 169 euros.
So a 45% discount would mean you'd pay approx 93 euros.

Hmmm ok.. That makes me wonder why this one would be more expensive then the XILS 3 and PolyKB

Better featured? More development time perhaps?

And don't say that the market price of the hardware that it tries to emulate is worth more then the others. I think the PolyKB would win that one :hihi:

Hi Niels and Pak.

Yes MSRP price will be 169€ for the Synthix, so its a little more expensive than the PolyKB and the Xils 3.

It has as you pointed out nothing to see with the price of the HW unit, wich now reach sky limits, but sky is probably better than zero market wich is the case of the PolyKB.

Actually you found the right answer Niels, its all about time, and therefore development costs, wich should be reflected more or less in the final price

And yes the number of features is a part of the equation too, as each additional feature has a cost in time of course.

I'll give a quick example of all this to allow everybody to have a quick picture of the situation.

When the PolyKB II was released, the Synthix ( who was at that time the X-Synth ) was ALREADY quite advanced.

But some features like the multitimbral modes were brand new, and they brought their load of problems to manage. The independant per layer architecture was also new  :-o .

But the best example is probably the Chorus. The original synth's chorus was quite famous, so it was not enough to make a "good" chorus like on the PolyKB II. THis time the goal was to make a_good_chorus_AND_at_the_same_time_a_soundalike_chorus. And well it was really a great challenge that Xavier managed with his usual obsession for details and fidelity in the sound.

But well we all know that a huge ammount of small details can make a huge difference in the final sound. It is very similar to the process to get a good, average or ........ less good final mix for a track

Thats why in the end on the Synthix you have TWO chorus models and SIX modes available :)

Well a lot of people usually pay a_certain_price for only, if I dare to say, a good chorus.

So there it is ( back to topic, Sometimes I loose myself .....:) the Chorus took us a lot of times to decipher.

So well, I sincerely hope some of you will enjoy the Synthix .;. --> choruses :)

Ok so yes its development time ( to sum up  )

Hi Laurent,

Ok that makes sense, thanks for the explanation. You always make it an interesting read :)

And of course many thanks for giving us the chance to get this for a very nice discount! :tu: At the full price I probably wouldn't buy it instantly (because I'm already covered so much with synths these days and I'm also diving more and more into... Propellerheads Reason :-o ) but the discount makes it really attractive to complete my Xils synths collection :D

Post

PolyKB is a simply superb, you're one of those companies I'd (almost) get your latest creation blindfolded ;) Looking really forward to the 21st!
