Couldn't get very far yet. The demo crashed Sonar X1 whenever I tried to open the GUI. My system is Windows 7 64-bit running 32-bit version of Sonar X1.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

Here on Win XP SP3 32bit and Cubase 6.0.2 works really fine.

No problem at all.

Lotuzia Presets (Especialy: Laser harp) are very identical
Congrats !

Hi everyone,

While listening to Rendes-Vouz from JMJ and playing with the Synthix demo i tried to reproduce the Synth Brass from Fourth Rendes-Vous. I saved it as a screenshot as is in the demo i could not save the file.
With this preset and some drums from FXpansion Geist (with the BFD remix expansion) i just did some "noodling", like mostly without external effects:

https://rapidshare.com/files/1447049866 ... ix_One.mp3

I really hope that the Group buy will start today so i could get the full version.

Have fun,
Ingo
I just made a second spontaneous demo based on a Synth Strings preset i just created with the Synthix Demo (again saved as a screenshot):

https://rapidshare.com/files/3558635614 ... ix_One.mp3

This is one intance of Synthix and no external FXs were used. additional vibrato is added with aftertouch.

I just tested the demo of Synthex.
I like the synth but for me it has has the very special XILS-Lab sound that I know from their other synths and not the Synthex sound.

In the internet I found an audio demo of the Synthex with 50 preset examples.
Here it is:
http://www.synthesizer.at/audio/Synthex_workshop.mp3

I would like to hear such sounds with Synthix.
I hope that the full version will sound like that.

The Demo is crashing my Sonar Home Studio 7 too, runing on Windows 7 32-bit. (both Xils 3 and PolyKb are ok with this configuration) :(

Looks like the original Synthex has a better "low end" which is seems to be a problem of many softsynths against hardware synths. I could even hear such difference when i compare a hardware Wavestation to the software version.

Found a trick : the demo is working on my computer only if Xils 3 or PolyKB is running too !

ya I'm wary of this too. I already own PKBII/XILS3 so I'm keeping my ears peeled for recycled code, I'm not sure a +5% discount is incentive enough for me to ignore too much common ground between all three synths... if indeed there is common ground to ignore...On with the demoing :)

Just hear my second demo ("Stringix One") in one of my last posts above and try to get the same sound with PolyKb II. Good luck... :)
Biggest diferences are in the filter (obviously), the OScs, the envelopes and also the different modulation matrix. Not forget the Chorus which sounds totally different.

Hi Gucky,

Yes Ingo is prefectly right.

Besides the numerous delays and lush reverb added ( Synthex has no delay unit and certainly no reverb ) this -very good- demos use the follwing techniques :

Synthex Layering and real time tweaking of parameters : The Synthex sequencer is NOT capable of doing such things, so he has layered some sounds, often two, and maybe sometimes up to three ( didnt listen twice to the demo ).

He more than probably has one of the last -midified- Synthex post 1985. Because of the quantize feel.

Then he uses real time knob tweaking while his Synthex is playing Midi Controlled. Then besides filter rez aso, he sometimes also modulates the Glide time/parameters wich you can hear in some of the percussive beautiful sequences he made. This cant be done on the original Synthex without manually tweaking knobs.

Why do I say that ? Because I just happen to spend 5 days with a REAL Synthex AND the Synthix two meters apart, together with one of the highest possible world authorities regarding Synthex.

So you can make the Synthix sounds like that but you'll have to make beautiful sequences like the Austrian gentleman, add a very good reverb, delay when necessary, then tweak the right parameters in real time. ( WIch should be possible because every paramater can be automatable on the Synthix )

At one moment in this demo there the Laser Harp attempt, probably derivated from the preset n°13 ( for superstitious people :) ) of the Synthex Factory libary. But it isnt properly nailed, as you can see the sustained is way too much brighter than on JMJ La Defense concert, wich is the one I picked to make my own version, prior I could play it together the N°13 and the Synthix version together, wich confirmed a lot of my thoughts. We'll propose a few more versions of the Laser Harp preset, because there ARE different versions :)

But the one in this demo is quite different, despite verb aso/.

Ok so we'll offer some more legacy presets in the final version, additionnaly to the few I already made for the CR version ( Like the Spinet, some strings or the "enhanced" Vibes ... aso ).

The Synthex only had 40 presets in its first incarnation. Then some happy few could put their hands on some additional ones via the k7 interface

On these 40 presets not all are interesting, nor were used by ... who you know and all the other who you know.

The final Synthix Preset Library will offer around 250 instruments, a nice part of SYnthex originals and an even larger part of beyond Synthex ones.

And the Legacy part AND the Beyond part are only a minute of your imagination to be extended. Besides nailing the Synthex sound in the proper way, the Synthix is also an extraordinary research machine, that you can operate on multiple levels, from the simple Panel mode, to the most crazy multi layer/seuqence/arpeggios mixes.

To those who wonder if the Synthix will complete other Xils Synths, or just be a duplicate : The Synthex has a multimode filter, wich can self oscillate in ALL modes (including HP), where the PolyKB has only one LP with more scream factor.

The enveloppes are totally different and it can change a sound at a point you just cant imagine ( But we know because we could tried to switch PolyKB EVs instead of the Synthex models on the Synthix and the sounds were just devastatingly different ). And well there are many other differences including the Special Chorus a la Sunthex mode.

To me they are as vastly different as a Model D is from an Odissey.

Does this mean that everybody NEEDS the Synthix/Synthex ? Well I dont think so. The Synthex has a very special sound, that you may like or like less, or even dislike. Like some people can only swear by Moog and will never buy an ARP.

But I'm proud to say that the Synthix is definetely very close, sometimes undistinguishable from an original Synthex. Wich you may like, or like less. And very different from the Vcs3 or PolyKobol.

Well so just a few elements to answer your question :)

For some extra "punch" you could activate multiple waveforms at once like e.g. Sawtooth + Pulse. Some filter drive helps too like EQ does.

Thats right Ingo :tu:

Plus : your brass patch is very nice and the Strings sound is definitely one of those territories the Synthex almost alone can explore.

Windows 7 crashes ( ALL HOSTS ) : Most probably because the SYnthix was installed in a directory where you dont have admin rights. So like it is mentioned in the manual ( the thing that nobody reads before installing a plug in - I do the same- , and barely after -This time not in my case I'm a manual addict ) its better to install it in an "AUDIO" folder for example, or another partition if you have several. Thats where I keep all my plugs. Or run it with admin rights.

Live Crash on Exit : Fixed ( Or one has been fixed at least in case there are several possibilities )

Hey that's how FAST Xavier is

I use Ableton Live 8 on Windows 7 32-bit. I always start Ableton Live with Admin rights and my vstplugins folder is on partition D: and not at C: like normally. This way i don't get problems with administrator rights. Besides the other crash on exit (see below) i don't get the other crashes which were reported here.

Thanks for that. This was the only crash i could reproduce.
