Emulating Hammond preset keys in Cantabile

I'm trying to emulate the Hammond "reverse video" preset keys: when I play C1, I want to get Program 1, etc., through Program 12 for B1.

It seems the way to do this is to use the following MIDI filters:

Note to Controller Assignment: Map C1-B1 to Button Controllers 101-112
Button Bank: Button Bank ([101-112]+1) as Program Change

The Note to Controller Assignment seems to be working properly, but the Button Bank isn't. No matter what I do, I get program 1 for any key in the range. Base is ignored: I can set it to 100, and I still get Program 1. Ditto for Multiplier.

I'm applying the filter on the plugin; no filters on the rack, session, or global.

I can do this with MIDIOX; if I can't do this on Cantabile I won't be getting the Performer version; might need to try a different host. 29 days to figure it out. ;-)

Thanks!

Hi,

I did a small test and this seems to do what you need:

1) Create a MIDI-Routing with a MIDI - Source of your choise and the rack where your hammond emulation is places as Target. The rack should have "None" as MIDI-In.

2) Place a "Note To Controller Assignment" in MIDI-Filters of the MIDI-Routing with the following values:

Key Range: 24-35
Target Controller: f.e. 110 (or any other that is not needed)
Min. Value: 0
Max. Value: 11
Condition: None
Channel: Same

3) Place a "Controller To Program Map" Instruction after the first one wiht the following values:

Select prgram Controller: 110 (or another one but same as in the other Filter)
Previous Program Controller: None
Next Program Controller: None
New Channel: Same

This scenario did the trick here. Probably it could be necessary to suppress the notes C1 to B1 in the rack optionally if a reaction of the plugin to these notes has to suppressed (in my case I had to do this as I did the test with a B4 that already has built in the behavior you need...).

good luck and regards, humphrey

btw.: still 28 days to figure it out

Thanks! That works, and doesn't need to be in a MIDI route; works fine as a filter on the plugin. Simpler than my solution, too.

I'm using NIB4-II, which doesn't seem to have this behavior built-in -- or am I missing something? I'm setting up a new system so it's the latest version.

Thanks again!

yes, B4 obviously doesn't react on note on messages for these inverted keys (didn't dig deeper into this as I don't need it but neither got this working nor found any information about this in the manual). So I think the only way is to use pc messages.
