Why no reverb?

I've noticed that in a lot of iPad music apps reverb is missing from the list of effects. This seems strange since I would consider reverb to be almost the most basic and necessary of all effects. What could the reason for this be? Is reverb more computationally expensive than other types of effect, or is it just harder to program properly?
I suppose operating system limitations would make it impossible for someone to market a multi-tasking reverb app that could affect the output of other music apps?

This Reverb app supports audiocopy/audiopaste so you could always copy a loop/sample over, add reverb, and then copy back. Not ideal I know...

Nanostudio has a decent but simple reverb. It can be used either as send or insert.
