Actually I was saying that you can indeed find some Xils synths "versions" on torrent sites, but the versions that you can DL on these sites are malfunctionning.

So this is just to react to the usual " everything is crackab--le" blablabla that we hear each time, from people who usually have no clues about protection, or had some in ancient times and think that their knowledge might never die over years.

Some protections might have been cr.acked, and some other not.

I simply refuse to do business with companies that use Dongles.........if that makes me evil or disruptive to the KVR collective Borg then so be it......I couldn't care less...(Macmurphy proof read this post for me will ya). I have every piece of software I could possibly ever need to make music and not one Dongle.......simply don't need them......and in case anyone missed it I'm as anti-warez and cracks as anyone on this board....

I repsect your view 100% and it's absolutely your right to feel that way and like I said I apluad you standing up for what you believe in. But if and when dongles become a thing of the past do not be surprised if there is something else you feel just as passionately against as you do dongles. What 'ancient" (I'm not ancient ) hardware studio has to do with it is simply the trade offs and the things of the past (which we often forget) that were a pita that we no longer have to deal with or simply not available.

I have personally found that breaking rules I made for myself in the past has become quite beneficial, a lot of fun and I might not appreciate some of those things as much if not for those rules...but thta's just me..an ancient man

I had to use 1/2 inch reel to reel tapes in the old days but what does that have to do with Dongles? Reminds of the Monty Python sketch..(Monty Python Voice Mode On).....We used to live in a Cardboard Box in the middle of the street.....oooooh we could only dream of a cardboard box............I used to have to get up in the morning half an hour before I went to bed, work 29 hours down at Mill and pay Mill owner for the privilege.........but if you tell that to the young people of today they won't believe a word of it.......(Monty Python Voice Mode Off).........

Really it's just fun to rattle the chains of the Dongle Dandies and watch their faces get all red when someone dares to question the logic of their all mighty Dongles.........Actually I had a Dongle when most of these lads were still at their Mother's Teats.........on an Atari 520 ST.......certainly we should have moved forward since then...........I have..........

I think Hinks point was to suggest that things have come on a long way - if your biggest worry is whether to invest £12 in an elicencer compared to the price of a hardware synth, as was, for example.

Nor is my position about the cost of the Dongle.......I still have thousands of dollars of hardware sitting around unused.....it's not about the money............it's the principle...........

A few years ago I had to reinstall my OS after eLicenser or whatever that crap is decided to trash my registry or system files (I never got to the bottom of it.) I've never had that problem with serials or C\R. I won't demo or buy any dongled software for that reason. It's the software equivalent of being tagged except you've not been convicted of any crime.

Well, some software do come with a dongle included -- Cubase, for example.

So, on the principle of not paying extra for a dongle, it doesn't apply in this case, no? Think of it as a free dongle, I think.
