What other hardware besides the new Alesis I/O dock do you think has been a game changer as far as audio hardware for iDevices.

Do you think there's about to be a flood of new hardware over the next few years such as new mics, I/O solutions, etc.?

My hunch tells me yes, absolutely.
Frequency Ear Training iOS App - Quiztones v1.5 just released!

I would pay good money for an S/PDIF input dock adaptor.... I really would. IKM, or anyone else - MAKE IT HAPPEN !!

(I want to record into my iPad apps from an external pre-amp digitally)

Is the Alesis thing out yet????

You can get an Apogee mic interface & the guitar things from Line6 & IKM (also for mic's???)

I wouldn't say any have been game-changing as portable recording options such as laptops have been around for ages and the Ipad doesn't really cut it as a full daw imo. I got lots of cool apps which I have and will continue to use in my music but I see it as more of a portable 'instrument' rather than a studio, so I've decided not to rush out and get an interface for mine.

I'd say that apps are more important as 'game-changers' and the big ones will be when more of the big guns come out with say 'iCubase' or 'iTools'... ;) GarageBand is promising with talk of importing projects into the full versions (I'm assuming that includes Logic as that imports GB files I think) and maybe the Fruityloops app will end up being compatible with the full PC version.

As it stands for me as a Cubase user, I'll often just plug my iPad into a spare channel on my mixer and just hit record. I'll play whatever I want from the iPad app and then the resulting audio can be trimmed for use in a tune - I can't be arsed buggering about with iTunes to get loops out when it's so easy to record.

Sorry for going off-topic a bit as you obviously want to talk about hardware, so I'll ask you this - What you looking for I/O-wise for your iPad? I thought about a dual output (2 stereo outs) would be cool for some DJ'ing app like Traktor but I've already got a very portable, tactile & proven DJ setup with my Macbook and controller and I'm not sure I would replace it with my iPad at present. If you want to record then I can see the appeal of some quality input but would you need it to be any more than a stereo pair? If I was taking enough mic's & cables to record a drumkit then I'd probably want more of a DAW than what is currently available on the appstore imo. Midi-wise I would like a good old fashioned reliable midi port for mine that would allow stuff like sync with the iElectribe and for controlling hardware with. I've got an app which is a controller for the Mopho but as yet I ain't actually tried it as I can't connect it up!!! lol.
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....
